Dramatic Rescue in 'Ask the Stars': Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin's Space Station Ordeal
In the latest episode of tvN's weekend drama 'Ask the Stars,' Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin's characters were dramatically rescued while embracing each other.

The episode aired on the 1st, depicting the harrowing situation of Gong Ryong (played by Lee Min-ho) and Eve Kim (played by Gong Hyo-jin) stranded on a space station for 40 hours. Fortunately, the portable freezer containing the morula, created from the sperm of Choi Jae-ryong's (played by Kim Eung-soo) son and his daughter-in-law's egg, remained intact. Overwhelmed with emotion, Choi Jae-ryong vowed, "I will never let Ryong die." He pleaded with a space-related businessman to launch a rescue ship immediately, offering any amount of money. However, the businessman refused, citing the risk to the astronauts' lives.

Choi Go-eun (played by Han Ji-eun) confronted Park Dong-ah (played by Kim Joo-heon) at the MCC, questioning how they could leave tourists behind. Park Dong-ah retorted, "Our commander is still there." Choi Go-eun revealed, "(Gong Ryong) is my fiancé." Park Dong-ah responded, "(Eve Kim) is the woman I want to marry. I will go up there myself and bring them back. Just wait."

With the space station's oxygen levels at a critical 13% and only about 10 hours of survival time left, the MCC team urgently sought a safe and swift rescue plan. Park Dong-ah volunteered, saying, "I'm willing to risk my life." Despite safety and technical concerns raised by Kang Tae-hee, Donna Lee (played by Lee Cho-hee) insisted on finding a way to proceed. Ultimately, Park Dong-ah boarded the rescue ship.

A robotic arm was essential for the rescue. Kang Tae-hee contacted Kang Kang-soo (played by Oh Jung-se), Santi (played by Alex Hafner), Lee Seung-jun (played by Heo Nam-jun), and Mina Lee (played by Lee Cho-hee) to attach the robotic arm for manual docking. Kang Kang-soo agreed to cover the cost, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to help.

Kang Tae-hee advised Park Dong-ah to suppress his emotions and strictly follow the manual, emphasizing, "If you die, it's all over. You can't save Eve." Park Dong-ah confessed, "I love Eve. I was wrong." The unresolved dynamics between Kang Tae-hee, Park Dong-ah, and Eve Kim added tension. Kang Tae-hee urged, "Come back safely and apologize or not. Just save them and return alive," giving Park Dong-ah his watch.

The rescue ship, Maruho, finally launched with Park Dong-ah aboard. However, news soon arrived that the space station's life support system had failed, necessitating a swift rescue. After overcoming numerous challenges, Park Dong-ah reached the station and found Gong Ryong and Eve Kim embracing each other, a scene broadcast live to the MCC via Park Dong-ah's camera. Choi Go-eun, Gong Ryong's fiancée, was also present at the MCC. Donna Lee defended the pair, stating, "They did well. That's how you survive. It's basic protocol." Gong Ryong and Eve Kim boarded the rescue ship and safely returned to Earth.
