Kwon Oh-joong recently revealed that he took a break from his broadcasting career to spend time with his family.

On the Channel A show 'Best Friends Documentary – Table for Four' aired on the 27th, actor Shin Hyun-joon was featured. Shin, who is also a film producer, invited his close friends, including actor Kwon Oh-joong, missionary Jung Woon-taek, and broadcaster Lucky, to celebrate the release of his latest film. They gathered to fill the void left by the late Kim Soo-mi, the star of the film 'Ghost Police,' which premiered on the 24th. Kwon Oh-joong made a rare appearance on the show to express his gratitude to Shin Hyun-joon.

Kwon Oh-joong shared that he had cut off communication with his surroundings and halted his broadcasting activities for about four years since 2020. He confessed that he changed his contact information and stopped reaching out to friends to dedicate time solely to his family.

Explaining his decision, Kwon said, "2020 was a tough year for my family. My wife was ill, I was ill, and my child was ill. I felt I needed to save my family. I decided to change my number and spend time only with my family." He added, "Before that, I enjoyed drinking and partying. I quit drinking and spent 24/7 with my wife and family. We traveled together. Now, we've almost come out of the tunnel. I happened to meet my brother at the end of last year, and that's how I started broadcasting again."

Kwon Oh-joong recalled spotting Shin Hyun-joon filming in his neighborhood but hesitated for 30 minutes before finally greeting him due to his own humble appearance. He later resumed his broadcasting career with Shin's support.

Kwon Oh-joong also shared that his son, who has a rare developmental disorder, graduated from college two years ago and is now learning acting. Kwon revealed that he had visited every hospital in the country and even tried unconventional treatments to cure his son's illness. "He was fine when he was young. As it progressed, there was no data, so no one knew how it would develop," he expressed his past frustrations.

Kwon proudly announced, "Hyuk-jun graduated from college two years ago," receiving congratulations from everyone. He continued, "Going to college was a miracle. We thought high school would be the last, so we prepared a banner, but he wanted to go to college. My wife applied everywhere for a year, but he was rejected. Then there was a special disability admission. It was two days before the deadline, and my wife insisted on trying. He got accepted into the Christian University, Christian Studies Department. They had just started accepting students with disabilities, and no one applied. They welcomed us. We had the entrance ceremony in two days. We were grateful."

Kwon shared his son's interest in acting, saying, "A friend heard on the radio about a place that teaches acting to people with disabilities. Hyuk-jun wanted to try, so he's learning acting. Coincidentally, Park Young-kyu is also there. I joined too," expressing his joy. He added, "My son is there, and I'm there too. The agency was established less than a month ago. We're going to work hard from now on. We want to be the light and salt."

Kwon talked about his son's similarities to him, saying, "He has my voice and is quite stubborn. He likes older people." Interestingly, Kwon's wife is also six years older than him.

Reflecting on his first meeting with his wife, Kwon said, "We met on the streets of Sinchon. She was walking in black jeans and a white T-shirt, and she looked sexy. She was intellectual and charming. I fell in love at first sight at 23. I knew I had to marry her."

The couple is now celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary. Kwon shared, "I've spent more than half of my life with my wife." He recalled the opposition from his family at the time of their marriage. "I couldn't let her go, so we registered our marriage on my birthday. We set the wedding date ourselves and informed them later. It caused a stir, but our parents eventually arranged a wedding. We had no money back then. I met her before becoming a celebrity, and we had nothing," he reminisced. He expressed gratitude, saying, "I'm thankful my wife followed me with love. Without her, I wouldn't have lived like this. I like to have fun. Without her, I might have spent my old age in a desolate place."
