Song Joong-ki Shares Heartwarming Stories About His Family and Upcoming Film 'Bogota'

Actor Song Joong-ki recently showcased his affection for his wife in a delightful appearance.

On the 26th, the YouTube channel 'Hello, This is Choi Hwa-jung' released a video titled 'Choi Hwa-jung Surprised by Song Joong-ki's Youthful Charm and Newlywed Stories (+Chocolate Curry)'.

Song Joong-ki was invited to Choi Hwa-jung's home, where he presented her with gifts, saying, "I wasn't sure what you'd like, so I brought this. My wife also packed something for you when she heard I was coming on this show." Choi Hwa-jung expressed her gratitude, saying, "I'm honored."

Choi Hwa-jung wondered why they hadn't met before, to which Song Joong-ki replied, "I thought the same. Why haven't I met you in the past 16 years? I recently watched a show you were on, and it was entertaining. Honestly, I wanted to meet you."

Choi Hwa-jung congratulated Song Joong-ki on the recent birth of his daughter. Song Joong-ki shared, "It's been about two weeks since she was born. My wife and the kids are in Rome, and I'm in Seoul for filming. I miss them so much."

While touring Choi Hwa-jung's home, Song Joong-ki admired the window decorations, saying, "They're beautiful." He added, "My wife was decorating our living room for Christmas today. Can I ask where you got these after we're done?" Choi Hwa-jung offered some ornaments, and Song Joong-ki humorously replied, "I never refuse gifts."

Choi Hwa-jung began preparing a meal for Song Joong-ki and asked if he cooks. Song Joong-ki replied, "I assist my wife when she cooks."

As they sat down to eat, Choi Hwa-jung commented on his wife's cooking skills. Song Joong-ki responded, "She's similar to you. Her plating is similar, and she always adds lemon and basil to water."

Song Joong-ki inquired about salad dressings and shared, "I've recently become obsessed with olive oil. I take a spoonful every morning for health. I wasn't like this before, but after meeting my wife, I can't eat without it. We use olive oil from our own trees in Italy. It feels rewarding and satisfying."

Song Joong-ki revealed, "We have a home in Itaewon and another in the countryside of Tuscany, near Rome. My wife has lived in Italy her whole life, so we stay there when I'm not filming." He added, "I'm learning Italian because our child is starting to speak it. Sometimes I can't understand, so I feel pressured to learn. My wife is learning Korean too."

When asked about his wife's Korean skills, Song Joong-ki praised her, saying, "Her language skills are incredible. She learns quickly and even says 'Mother, let's eat' to my mom. It's not perfect, but it's adorable. She's learned expressions like 'wow' instead of 'yes'."

Song Joong-ki shared, "My wife values manners more than I do, even as a Korean. She often reminds me of basic etiquette. For example, when my manager came over to deliver something, I took about 20 minutes to return. After my manager left, she scolded me, saying, 'Who are you to keep someone waiting?' She reminds me of the basics."

Song Joong-ki couldn't stop praising his wife, saying, "She gives me a lot of constructive criticism and is very helpful." He shyly admitted, "I feel like I'm bragging too much about her."

His wife is fluent in five languages. Song Joong-ki explained, "She has lived in Italy her whole life, so her identity is Italian. She speaks British English and is more comfortable with Italian than English. She also speaks Spanish and French fluently, influenced by her mother. Now she's learning Korean. I'm envious."

Their son is 18 months old. Song Joong-ki shared, "He calls me 'Dad' and his mom 'Mama'. He says 'Goodnight, Dad' and 'I love you' in his own way." When Choi Hwa-jung asked if his son is happy to see him, Song Joong-ki replied, "I met him after five months of filming. He took about 1-2 minutes to recognize me, wondering why the dad from the screen was in front of him. After that, he hugged me tightly. I cried so much." He added, "I'm lucky thanks to my wife." When Choi Hwa-jung asked if he wanted a daughter after having a son, Song Joong-ki said, "I'm thrilled. My wife tells me, 'You have everything.'"

Song Joong-ki married British actress Katy Louise Saunders, who is a year older than him, last year. They welcomed their son in June of the same year and recently had a daughter.

Song Joong-ki also discussed his upcoming film 'Bogota'. He said, "We initially planned to shoot in Colombia for five months, but had to stop after two and a half months due to COVID-19. We regrouped to finish it. There was a lot of uncertainty, but I'm excited to introduce it as it releases at the end of this month."
