Anticipation Builds for MBC's New Drama 'The Call You Made': Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin's On-Screen Chemistry
Born in 1984, Yoo Yeon-seok and born in 1994, Chae Soo-bin, are set to portray a 'show-window couple' in the upcoming drama 'The Call You Made'.
Scheduled to premiere next month, MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama 'The Call You Made' is a secret romance thriller revolving around a couple in their third year of an arranged marriage, which begins with a threatening phone call.
Yoo Yeon-seok takes on the role of 'Baek Sa-eon', the youngest spokesperson for the presidential office, who lacks nothing in terms of family background, appearance, or ability. Chae Soo-bin plays his wife, 'Hong Hee-joo', a sign language interpreter who suffers from mutism due to an accident in her childhood.
On the 17th, the first stills of Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin, who are bound by an arranged marriage, were released. The stills alone showcase their fantastic visual chemistry, completing a perfect on-screen partnership.
The released stills capture various moments of the 'show-window couple', Baek Sa-eon and Hong Hee-joo. The intriguing tension between the two, more palpable than the excitement of a bride and groom-to-be, raises curiosity about their precarious relationship.
In the stills, Sa-eon and Hee-joo, dressed in formal attire, share meaningful glances and rely on each other while fixating on something unseen. Sa-eon maintains a clean image through meticulous self-management, while Hee-joo performs only the minimal roles for appearances, harboring no expectations or hopes for their marriage. Despite living without communication, a single phone call one day is set to cause a seismic shift in their relationship.
Both characters have professions that involve communicating with others—Sa-eon as a spokesperson and Hee-joo as a sign language interpreter—yet they fail to communicate with each other. The drama promises to showcase not only the complex dynamics of a 'show-window couple' but also a deep romance. The performances of Yoo Yeon-seok and Chae Soo-bin, who will lead the narrative, are highly anticipated.
Based on a popular Kakao Page web novel of the same name, 'The Call You Made' is penned by Kim Ji-woon, known for his solid writing in works like 'Melancholia' and 'Doctor John'. Director Park Sang-woo, recognized for his stylish direction in 'The Forbidden Marriage', joins forces for this project.
'The Call You Made' will premiere on MBC in November.
