Netflix Responds to Illegal Gambling Scandal Involving Comedian Lee Jin-ho
Netflix has issued a statement regarding the illegal gambling scandal involving comedian Lee Jin-ho, which has recently come to light.
On the 14th, a Netflix representative expressed, “We are deeply regretful to have learned of this news just a day before the release. 'Comedy Revenge,' like all our content, is the result of the dedication and hard work of not only numerous comedians but also hundreds of staff and production crew behind the scenes.”
The representative further explained, “Due to the program's structure, which is conducted as a team competition, completely editing out a specific team presents structural limitations that disrupt the narrative. We ask for your understanding.”
Previously, Lee Jin-ho confessed to illegal online gambling through his social media. He admitted, “In 2020, I started playing games on an illegal online gambling site by chance and ended up with debts I couldn't handle.” He continued, “Although I was able to quit gambling after receiving stern advice from acquaintances and fearing that I might not be able to continue the work I love, I had already received financial help from many people.”
He added, “I am steadily repaying the money every month, and I plan to fully repay this debt on my own, even if it takes until my dying day.” He expressed deep regret, saying, “As a public figure appearing on television, I am truly remorseful for the past days ruined by a moment of poor judgment.” He also stated, “I will cooperate fully with the police investigation and accept the consequences of my actions.”
