Jang Shin-young Opens Up About Husband's Infidelity Scandal

Actress Jang Shin-young has publicly shared her feelings for the first time following her husband Kang Kyung-joon's infidelity scandal.

On the October 13th episode of SBS's variety show 'My Little Old Boy' (hereafter referred to as 'My Little Old Boy'), Jang Shin-young appeared as a special MC.

Jang Shin-young, who has one son, remarried Kang Kyung-joon in 2018, which garnered significant attention. The couple later welcomed a second son. However, last year, Kang Kyung-joon was sued for being an adulterer, and in July, he effectively admitted to the affair by accepting the plaintiff's claims in a lawsuit for damages. Jang Shin-young decided to maintain her family rather than pursue a divorce.

Appearing on television for the first time since her husband's scandal, Jang Shin-young expressed, "I was scared and wondered if what I was doing was wrong, which made me lose confidence. I should have shown a better and prettier side of myself, and I apologize," she said, bowing her head.

She continued, "As an actress and someone who works in broadcasting, I wanted to show myself appearing as a guest on such a platform. I came out with courage, so please look at me generously," she requested.

Jang Shin-young admitted, "Honestly, it would be a lie to say it wasn't difficult. I went through tough times but tried to regain my daily life. I wanted to live happily with my children and maintain a normal life with my husband, even if it meant fighting sometimes," she said. "Since I can't change what has already happened, I thought about how I could build my family moving forward, taking one step at a time," she shared.

She also revealed, "Since I couldn't express any position, there were many stories about divorce and disappearance. I told my eldest child, who is in high school, not to read such things and just listen to me. I also stopped looking at those things, and as a result, my perspective gradually widened," she confessed, mentioning that she deleted apps from her phone after the controversy.

Regarding her decision to maintain her marriage, she explained, "What I was worried about was the future of our family. So from the beginning, it wasn't about 'I can't live with you,' but rather 'How can we get through this so that our children are less hurt and can live as bravely as before?'"

She continued, "After the incident, I couldn't see anything, but at some point, I saw my husband stripped bare. As a wife, that was very difficult. So I asked my husband, 'Can I hold your hand?' He replied, 'I feel shameless and sorry, and I have nothing to say, but I will apologize.' So I said, 'Let's go together,'" she said, shedding tears.

Jang Shin-young shared, "My eldest child must have had a hard time, but he waited. As a parent, I felt guilty just talking about this. Still, I thought it was better to speak sincerely than to keep hiding things, so I explained why I chose to keep the family together after everything was settled. Thankfully, my child accepted it. He supports me but said he needs time," she conveyed her eldest son's reaction.
