Kim Sun-hwa Returns to the Small Screen with 'The Recipient'

Kim Sun-hwa will appear as 'Choi Mi-young', the stepmother of high school student Seong Seo-yeon (played by Kang Shin) and the biological mother of Seong Seo-jun (played by Baek Seon-ho), in the drama 'The Recipient', which premieres on Sunday, the 13th, on OCN and OCN Movies2 channels. Directed by Yoo Beom-sang and written by Kim Ji-eun, the drama is part of CJ ENM's drama project 'Opening 2024'.
'The Recipient' is the sixth installment in the 'Opening 2024' series and tells the story of a high school girl who wins a 5 billion won lottery but struggles to claim the prize due to her minor status. The drama follows her journey to claim the prize and gain independence.
Kim Sun-hwa's character, 'Choi Mi-young', appears to be a refined lady on the outside but is the real breadwinner of her family due to her incompetent husband. Despite wanting to lament her situation, she endures the judgment of others and her pride. As a mother to half-siblings, she turns a blind eye to reality and focuses solely on Seo-jun, believing he will change her life. Her twisted maternal instincts are expected to add tension to the drama.
Kim Sun-hwa has captivated audiences with her unique characters in various genres, including the recently concluded drama 'Graduation', as well as 'The Glory', 'Hip', 'Shroop', 'Big Mouth', 'Bloody Heart', 'Mr. Sunshine', 'My ID is Gangnam Beauty', and the play 'The Dressing Room'. Anticipation is high for her performance in this new project.
Meanwhile, the first and second episodes of 'The Recipient' will air on the 13th and 20th of this month at 10:40 PM on OCN and OCN Movies2 channels.
