Rapper Rhymer, born in 1977, has shared a glimpse into his life following his divorce. Rhymer, who married former SBS journalist Ahn Hyun-mo in September 2017, amicably parted ways last year due to irreconcilable differences. On the October 6th episode of SBS's 'My Ugly Duckling,' Rhymer revealed his solo living space for the first time since the divorce. In his neatly organized home, he prepared a meal of sea urchin, seaweed, and kimchi stew, showcasing his ability to manage meals alone. During the episode, he received a call from his mother, who expressed concern for his well-being, advising him to eat well and cut down on alcohol. Rhymer reassured her, mentioning that despite moving closer, they hadn't been able to meet often. In a conversation with broadcaster Lee Sang-min, who visited his home, Rhymer explained that the bed and furniture were items he had used before the divorce. He candidly shared, "It's a bit awkward to just throw them away because of the divorce." Lee Sang-min humorously remarked, "These pieces of furniture have witnessed you living alone, being happy together, and then parting ways." Rhymer also revealed that the television was taken by Ahn Hyun-mo after the divorce. Rhymer confessed to having an emotional moment while singing hymns at church, where he cried alone, not wanting to upset his parents who were present. He admitted to having deep-seated emotional wounds that he wasn't fully aware of. Lee Sang-min empathized, suggesting that relying on one's faith can help overcome the pain of divorce. Now living alone for 11 months, Rhymer prepared fish for Lee Sang-min, expressing gratitude for his visit, saying, "Having you here brings life to the house." Reflecting on his marriage, Rhymer shared, "We lived together for five and a half years." When asked how he broke the news of his divorce to his parents, Rhymer said, "I told them when the decision was finalized. It was too painful before that." Contrary to his expectations, his parents offered support, saying, "Don't worry, living happily is what's important." Lee Sang-min shared his own experience, noting, "People say they divorce to be happy, but for the first three years, both parties are unhappy." Rhymer added, "I've forgotten the exact reasons now. Sometimes I wonder, 'Why did we break up?' It just seems like it was meant to be." He reflected on his marriage, acknowledging both the challenges and happy moments, stating, "No one wanted this situation." Lee Sang-min shared his thoughts on divorce, saying, "There comes a moment when you realize parting ways is the answer," and mentioned that in his 20 years of post-divorce life, he never encountered his ex-wife. He advised Rhymer that he might run into Ahn Hyun-mo someday. Rhymer responded, "I don't think it would be awkward if we met. I hope Ahn Hyun-mo is doing well." He concluded with a smile, "Having you here makes the reality of the divorce hit home."
