Chef Choi Hyun-seok Discusses His Participation in Netflix's 'Black and White Chef'

On the morning of the 7th, a press conference for Netflix's 'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War' TOP 8 was held at the Hotel Naru Seoul MGallery Naru Ballroom. Directors Kim Hak-min & Kim Eun-ji and the TOP 8 chefs attended.
On this day, Choi Hyun-seok began by saying, "I naturally thought I would be a judge. I wondered why I should go out as a challenger, but the PD said, 'Chef, you look cooler as a challenger.' So I asked them to pick someone really good."
He continued, "I've been in the culinary world for 30 years, and I closed my doors for 45 days to continue my culinary research. I initially said I wouldn't participate because everyone around me dissuaded me, but I decided to join again," adding, "Through 'Black and White Chef', I felt that the path I am on is correct. It was a difficult time for the restaurant industry, and I am grateful that the attention has returned to cooking."
'Black and White Chef: Culinary Class War' is a fierce culinary class war involving 100 chefs, where the highly skilled 'Black Spoon' chefs, known for their exceptional taste, challenge Korea's top star chefs, the 'White Spoon'. In episodes 8 to 10 released last week, the 4th round 'Black and White Mixed Team Restaurant Mission' revealed the TOP 8: Choi Hyun-seok, Jang Ho-jun, Cooking Dolai, Imokase No. 1, Triple Star, Jung Ji-sun, Edward Lee, and Napoli Mafia. Since its release on the 17th of last month, 'Black and White Chef' has ranked first in the Netflix global TOP 10 TV (non-English) category for two consecutive weeks.
