Genie TV's 'To My Harry' Captivates Viewers with Shin Hye-sun's Dual Role and Intriguing Romance
The first episode of 'To My Harry' recorded a viewership rating of 2.4% in the metropolitan area and 2.0% nationwide, surpassing the premiere ratings of its predecessor 'Your Honor,' according to Nielsen Korea.
The premiere episode, which aired on the 23rd, showcased the sweet romance between eight-year lovers Eun-ho (played by Shin Hye-sun) and Hyun-oh (played by Lee Jin-wook). On a snowy winter night, Hyun-oh smiled at Eun-ho and said, 'I like you more than an exclusive scoop.' Eun-ho pointed to the news anchor seat on TV and asked, 'Then will you sit there for me?' When Hyun-oh questioned her unusual compliance, she replied, 'Because I love you. I love and support you.' Hyun-oh responded, 'Me too.'
The plot thickened as the two transformed into former lovers with a love-hate relationship. When Eun-ho, who hosts a morning radio show, was at risk of taking over the afternoon live program 'Issue In,' Hyun-oh volunteered to take over, pointing at Eun-ho and saying, 'Instead of her.' Eun-ho retorted angrily, 'What did you just say?'
Outside the meeting room, Eun-ho sarcastically remarked to Hyun-oh, 'You still love me. You want to take the 4 PM live show because you think I might do it.' Hyun-oh coldly replied, 'Don't be mistaken.' Eun-ho firmly shut down any affection, saying, 'Keep your petty affection and regrets to yourself. I'd rather detest you.'
The subtle emotions between Eun-ho and Hyun-oh unfolded like a delicate twist. Hyun-oh changed the 'Issue In' time slot, which even the PPS president couldn't do, for Eun-ho. When junior Ji-on (played by Kang Sang-jun) asked Eun-ho out on a date, Hyun-oh, who overheard, scheduled 'Issue In' filming on their date day out of jealousy. Eun-ho's feelings were mutual. When Ji-on tried to confess to Eun-ho, she revealed, 'I hate Hyun-oh because I can't have him. Do you know how much you have to hate something you desperately want but can't have?'
The reason for their breakup was hinted at when a flashback showed Hyun-oh telling Eun-ho, 'Marriage? Eun-ho, I don't do that.' Despite Eun-ho's confession, Ji-on declared, 'I'll come to you no matter what,' and kissed her.
Later, Hye-ri (also played by Shin Hye-sun), who works at the Media N parking lot, woke up from a daze. She told a psychiatrist, 'I dreamt of becoming an anchor,' recounting Eun-ho's experiences. She asked if her boredom was due to losing most of her memories. The psychiatrist suggested she create interesting experiences, and Hye-ri shyly smiled, thinking of Media N anchor Joo-yeon (played by Kang Hoon).
Hye-ri, who hid her face with long bangs to avoid being noticed by Joo-yeon, prepared to confess her feelings. One day, she saw Joo-yeon being grabbed by the collar due to a false report in the station lobby. She rushed to his aid, grabbing his hand and running away to save him.
Hiding in a dark storage room, Joo-yeon scolded her, 'Didn't you think you could get hurt?' but then showed concern, asking, 'Are you okay?' Hye-ri kissed him and left the station with a spring in her step, leaving a stunned Joo-yeon behind.
At home, Hye-ri turned her head awkwardly when Hyun-oh called her 'Joo Eun-ho,' realizing she wasn't Eun-ho but Hye-ri. However, in a subsequent scene, the psychiatrist told Hye-ri, 'You are Eun-ho, not Hye-ri.'
