Jeong Seon-hee Opens Up About the Heartache of Losing Her Husband Ahn Jae-hwan
Jeong Seon-hee shared her heartfelt emotions about the loss of her husband, Ahn Jae-hwan, bringing tears to her eyes.
On the 11th, the YouTube channel 'Listen Up' posted a video titled 'Can This Really Happen to Me?!' featuring Jeong Seon-hee as a guest.
Jeong Seon-hee revealed, "I entered the entertainment industry. I was a PD and a casting director, and I wandered for about 3-4 years. I didn't meet their expectations and had an ambiguous character. I spoke clearly and quickly, but I didn't have many comedic elements. I thought, 'Am I just a disposable existence?'" She confessed to feeling a sense of futility in the past. She also admitted, "The sweetness of success made my prayers conditional. I practiced my faith with conditional prayers to get what I wanted."
Jeong Seon-hee married actor Ahn Jae-hwan in November 2007, but they were separated by his death just 10 months later. She shared, "I wanted to find the peace I didn't receive from my father through marriage. I thought I would receive everything I hadn't gotten by maintaining a peaceful family. It was a naive thought." She continued, "Even though there were difficulties and environmental differences after marriage, I didn't think they were insurmountable. But there were parts I didn't know how to handle."
Jeong Seon-hee recalled, "My husband was extremely depressed due to financial problems, but I didn't know because I was busy with work." She added, "When I heard the news that he had passed away 10 months after our marriage, it didn't feel real. My first thought was denial. 'This can't be happening to me,' I thought. I didn't file a missing person report because I was sure he would come back. I even thought he was getting back at me for not lending him money. It was a childish thought."
She continued, "The reason I didn't file a missing person report for over a week was primarily because of the image damage it would cause as a celebrity. My husband was running a business at the time, and I thought I had to protect him. I never imagined he would return in such a state."
Jeong Seon-hee also shared, "I wondered where things went wrong for my husband to make such a choice. The sense of loss was overwhelming. We were in the honeymoon phase, just 10 months into our marriage. It was heartbreaking." She added, "During that time, I was tormented by rumors that it was my fault, that I had been kidnapped and released after paying a ransom. I felt like I was being interrogated as a suspect rather than a witness. I was deprived of the opportunity to grieve. I didn't have the rights of a bereaved family member and had to explain things to his family." She concluded, "I felt lonely and isolated. I couldn't see my family or friends. I didn't have time to care about those who were on my side." She wiped away her tears and said, "There were days when I wanted to live and days when I didn't."
