Ock Joo-hyun Reminisces About Her Time with Fin.K.L
On the 8th, TV Chosun's 'Baekban Journey with Heo Young-man' (hereafter 'Baekban Journey') featured Ock Joo-hyun exploring popular eateries in Yongin.
Ock Joo-hyun debuted as a member of the first-generation girl group Fin.K.L and is currently active as a musical actress. Recently, she has been captivating audiences with her role as Oscar in the musical 'The Rose of Versailles.'
Known for her rigorous self-discipline, Ock Joo-hyun maintains her physique and stamina. She shared her fitness philosophy, stating, "I focus more on maintaining my stamina rather than just my figure. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I bought two exercise machines for my home and have been working out daily." She added, "I exercise with the determination not to let the equipment turn into laundry racks."
Ock Joo-hyun's interest in health stems from her father's passing when she was 13. She explained, "Due to my father, our household environment naturally made me focus on health. My father passed away from a vascular disease after battling it for four years. I was in the sixth grade at the time. My mother raised my younger brother and me alone." She also mentioned, "I debuted at 18 and have been the breadwinner since then."
Reflecting on her time with Fin.K.L, Ock Joo-hyun said, "We were so young that we felt more tired than aware of our popularity. We didn't fully appreciate the gratitude for having so much work back then."
She revealed that all the members secretly dated from time to time. "I've heard that current girl groups still have their phones confiscated. It was even stricter during our time, but we would just get new phones if ours were taken," she said, showcasing her mischievous side.
Ock Joo-hyun has close friendships with Song Hye-kyo, Jo Seung-woo, Patti Kim, and Park Hyung-sik. Speaking about her best friend Song Hye-kyo, she said, "We became friends shortly after Fin.K.L debuted. She's a year younger than me, but I've never called her 'unnie' (older sister)."
Regarding her relationship with Park Hyung-sik, she surprised many by revealing, "People often wonder why we're close, but we're actually sixth cousins." When Heo Young-man asked her to invite Park Hyung-sik to the show, she humorously sent a video message, "You're already famous, but it would be great to show your charm while eating. Let's appear on 'Baekban Journey.'"
