Actor Jang Ki-yong to Star in Upcoming Thriller Series 'Pigsty'
On the 19th, YG Entertainment announced, "Jang Ki-yong has confirmed his appearance in the new series 'Pigsty'. We ask for your anticipation and support as Jang Ki-yong takes on another new acting challenge."
Based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name, 'Pigsty' (directed and written by Kim Sang-man, produced by Studio N, co-produced by Impetus Pictures) is a mystery thriller about Jin-woo, who loses his memory and is stranded on a deserted island. He desperately searches for his lost memories to survive a bizarre family.
In the series, Jang Ki-yong will play the role of Jin-woo, who steps onto a strange island and expresses intense emotions amidst unpredictable situations, leading the tense storyline. As Jin-woo gradually regains his memories, the story intertwines with mysterious characters like the pension owner (played by Cha Seung-won) and his daughter Romi (played by Roh Jeong-eui).
Jang Ki-yong, who revealed, "I am a huge fan of the original webtoon 'Pigsty'," said, "I am honored to be part of a work I enjoyed, and I am excited to create this project and character with great producers and senior actors. I will do my best to complete a wonderful work."
Jang Ki-yong has showcased his romance acting in dramas such as 'Go Back Couple', 'Search: WWW', 'My Roommate Is a Gumiho', and 'Now, We Are Breaking Up'. He has also displayed deep emotional acting in 'My Mister', 'Kill It', and 'Born Again', consistently delivering 'character-fit' performances in each work. Having received praise for his nuanced acting in the recently concluded drama 'Not a Hero', there is growing interest in what new charm he will show in his upcoming project.
Meanwhile, the new series 'Pigsty', in which Jang Ki-yong has confirmed his appearance, is set to be released next year.
