In JTBC's 'Mom, Do You Want to Go on a Trip Alone?' (hereinafter referred to as 'Mom Alone'), which first aired on the 26th, Hyori Lee went on a mother-daughter trip with her mother, Jeong Ki-soon.
Lee Hyori confessed about her relationship with her mother, "I don't know much. We are like strangers." He continued, "I don't have many memories after my 20s. I thought of her as a woman who had a relationship with me," revealing that their relationship was somewhat awkward.
The mother said, “I wanted to be kind to my daughter, but I couldn’t even see her even though I wanted to.” Hyori Lee agreed, saying, “I feel like I swapped my daughter for a top star.”
The mother revealed that it was difficult for her to go out to take care of her husband, saying, "My husband's memory has become blurred. He doesn't have 20% of his memory." So, he confessed, “Traveling with Hyori was such a precious time.”
Hyori Lee said, "How long will I be a daughter and a mother? We haven't lived together for 20 years," and looked forward to traveling with her mother as a person. Hyori Lee chose Gyeongju as her mother's travel destination.
The mother and daughter headed to Daereungwon. As children wearing modified hanbok passed by, Hyori Lee said, "It's cute. I wish I had a daughter like that." My mother recommended, “Have one. Try the effort that others do.” However, Lee Hyori said, "I can't give birth now. It's too late. I don't want to go to the test tube route." My mother persuaded me once more, saying, “I have to have a child no matter what.”
The mother and daughter took pictures wearing old school uniforms on Hwangridan-gil. Hyori Lee recommended Tanghulu, which MZs enjoy eating, to her mother. But my mother continued to refuse. In response, Hyori Lee joked, “Are we going to fight?”
During dinner, Hyori Lee recalled her childhood. Hyori Lee remembered, “Even when I lived without him, he prepared me a Christmas present.” Her mother apologized, saying, “If I had lived in peace with your father, I would have raised you by giving you the love I didn’t receive when I was young, but I couldn’t afford that because I married your father.”
The mother avoided sad stories and said, "I only want to tell good stories. There are not many opportunities." However, Hyori Lee confessed, “I want to do this more because the opportunity is rare.”
My mother said, "You should do whatever you want and live without regrets. Because of my father, my mother was unable to do what she wanted to do, and the circumstances did not allow her to do it."
Hyori Lee said about the distance she felt from her mother, "When my mother was having a hard time, I felt a lot of helplessness as a child. That time when I couldn't do anything remained a painful time for the rest of my life." He also said with tears in his eyes, "I need to do better to my mother, but because of that, I want to avoid her. I don't know if it's because I feel sorry or because I'm afraid of confirming my helplessness. This time, I want to face those feelings head on and bravely defeat them."
