“Zico stole the song I gave to BTOB”
Yook Sungjae appeared on KBS2's 'The Seasons - Zico's Artist' (hereinafter referred to as 'The Seasons'), which aired on the 10th.
On this day, MC Zico announced the appearance of Yook Sungjae, saying, "The youngest member of a talented vocal group with 13 years of experience has appeared. A hexagonal all-rounder who is perfect in everything from vocals, entertainment, acting, and even visuals." Yook Sungjae, who went on stage, sang (G)I-DLE's 'Because I Hate Being Pain'.
After finishing the performance of ‘Because I just hate being sick’, Yook Sungjae had a talk time with Zico. In response to Zico's question, "It's been almost 8-9 years since we last saw each other, right?", Yook Sungjae responded "Yes," and when told that they had not had a chance to meet him, he tilted his head and said, "I understand that you are avoiding him, right?"
Iziko explained, "I wasn't avoiding it. I was preparing for a day like today," and Yook Sungjae asked, "For 8 years?" and said, "When BTOB was a little under the surface, I once received a song from Zico." I took it off.
Next, Yook Sungjae said, “I finished recording, but at that time, the album was being prepared to be released as a ballad. So I said I would try it the next time I get a chance. It was included as a song in the next Block B album.” He added, “From then on, didn’t Zico avoid BTOB a little? “I thought about it,” he explained. Zico explained, “If the owner is not there, quickly go to Block B.”
Yook Sungjae expressed his gratitude, saying, “I’m so thankful that Zico was the only one who told me, ‘This song suits you so well and you’re good at it.’ I thought I was a person who could do dance and hip-hop.” Zico said, “I’m not shy. “I just went in and said it out loud,” he recalled.
When asked by Zico to choose BTOB's representative song, Yook Sungjae said 'Missing You'. Yook Sungjae readily responded to the request for an impromptu live performance of ‘Missing You’ on site. When the accompaniment to ‘Missing You’ started, the audience sang along. Yook Sungjae filled the venue with his explosive singing ability, as if repaying the audience's response. He also sang Shawn Mendes' 'In My Blood'. Zico was impressed by Yook Sungjae's electrifying high notes, saying, "This is a great performance."
Yook Sungjae also talked about his first solo single album 'EXHIBITION: Look Closely', which was released on the 9th. Yook Sungjae said, "('EXHIBITION: Look Closely') is the name of the album that means to ask people to pay attention to the musicality I want to express," and added, "I really put a lot of effort into preparing this time, so I hope you love it a lot." Lastly, Yook Sungjae, who sang the album's title song 'BE SOMEBODY', enthralled the audience with his outstanding singing skills that continually impressed everyone from the introduction to the chorus.
