Park Chan-wook and Robert Downey Jr.'s 'The Sympathizer' will be released on Coupang Play in April
'The Sympathizer' is a spy thriller depicting the story of a North Vietnamese intelligence agent who infiltrated South Vietnam's secret police in the 1970s. It is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name by Vietnamese-American author Viet Thanh Nguyen.
'The Sympathizer' is director Park Chan-wook's first work after winning the Best Director Award at the 75th Cannes Film Festival for the film 'Decision to Break Up', and is the second global series he directed following BBC's 'The Little Drummer Girl'. Director Park Chan-wook participated as a co-showrunner for 'The Sympathizer' and led the entire process from production, script, and directing.
The actor lineup also attracts attention. Cast include Hoa Xuande, who plays the role of a spy, Robert Downey Jr., who plays four roles, and Sandra Oh, who is familiar to us as a Korean actress.
