'Parasite Beast: The Gray' tells the story of a human beastman who comes to coexist with the parasites, and the operation of the dedicated team 'The Gray' to stop them when parasites appear that try to expand their power by using humans as hosts. . It is based on the manga “Parasite” by Hitoshi Iwaaki.
The poster shows Su-in (Jeon So-ni), Kang-woo (Koo Kyo-hwan), and Jun-kyung (Lee Jung-hyun) intertwined in an incident called the emergence of parasites. Suin begins a strange symbiosis with Heidi, a parasite that targets her body. Soni Jeon said, “I was curious about whether parasitic beasts find a way to survive within human society, and I was curious about the relationship between hosts and parasites, so I was drawn to the character of Suin. As a parasite, Heidi cannot be emotional and makes rational choices, so she is different from other parasites. “I focused on going with a similar tone, and on the other hand, I thought about the details and created the character so that Soo-in could clearly be seen as a living person,” he said.
Kang-woo is a character who uncovers the identity of the parasite. While following the footsteps of his younger brother, who suddenly disappeared from his hometown after returning from a rival organization's pursuit, he learns about parasites and, together with the beast, uncovers the parasite's true purpose and pursues it. Koo Kyo-hwan said, "It shares the world view of the original work, but it is a story about a new character experiencing new events on a new stage. As the title suggests, I think you will experience new enjoyment if you watch it with the 'The Gray' team's influence on the development of the play in mind."
Jun-kyung took on the role of team leader of ‘The Gray’, a parasitic task force that risked everything to annihilate the parasitic beasts. Jun-kyung, who lost her husband to parasites, while exterminating the parasites, discovers a mutant beastman who is neither a human nor a parasite and follows him. Lee Jung-hyun explained, "I think this is the strongest acting transformation among the characters I've worked on. I lowered my tone, pitch, vocalization, and pronunciation a lot more than usual, and I practiced martial arts with a strong, simple, and powerful gesture in mind."
Meanwhile, the Netflix series 'Parasite: The Gray' will be released on April 5.
