Actress Kim Hyun-joo revealed the reason why she chose ‘The Bequeathed’.

Kim Hyun-joo met with Ten Asia at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul on the 23rd and told various stories about the Netflix original series 'The Bequeathed'.

'The Bequeathed' is a work that depicts the story of a series of ominous events that occur when a person inherits a mountain left behind after the death of his uncle, whom he had forgotten even existed, and secrets related to it are revealed. Director Yeon Sang-ho participated in the planning and script, and director Min Hong-nam, who worked with director Yeon Sang-ho as an assistant director for 'Train to Busan', 'Telekinesis', and 'Peninsula', took charge of directing and writing. In the play, Kim Hyun-joo takes on the role of Yoon Seo-ha, who becomes the heir to The Bequeathed and becomes entangled in sinister events.

Kim Hyun-joo is the third person to work with director Yeon Sang-ho, following ‘Hell’ and ‘Jeong-i’. He said, “Director Yeon Sang-ho was not there on set. Although he cheered and supported me behind the scenes, I talked to director Min Hong-nam on set.” He added, “I also filmed the drama ‘Trolley’ in the meantime, and Director Yeon also worked on another work in the meantime, but it was difficult due to time constraints. "I think there was a feeling of succession. It wasn't intentional. I choose things I can do well or things I can do in a new way. Director Yeon Sang-ho said, "If I didn't like the character, I wouldn't have done it."

He continued, "I didn't plan to show a new part in this work and postponed it. At first, I thought of the feeling of a dry branch. There were things that had to be maintained without breaking, so I paid attention to controlling the euphemism. In the beginning, the things I said to the professor might seem subservient. “It can be done, but I wanted to reveal realistic emotions in the end,” he said.

Regarding the reason for choosing 'The Bequeathed', which deals with the subject of 'incest' in the ending, Kim Hyun-joo said, "'The Bequeathed' is not a work that talks about love. I think I was able to choose it because it was used as a subject in the flow of the work. That kind of love. “If it were a story about people who do it, I think it might have been rejected. I think it was chosen because they wanted to give it a dramatic element,” he said.
