Singer IU, “BTS Suga is the best producer among his age group”

Singer IU mentioned her feelings about working on a song with BTS' Suga.

On the 26th, singer IU appeared as a guest on YouTube channel BTS TV's 'Schuchita'. In the released video titled '[Schuchta] EP.24 SUGA with IU', IU confessed an episode of working on music with Suga.

On this day, IU expressed her feelings that she couldn't help but be impressed when she saw the Hive headquarters. IU said, "I came here tired today, but as soon as I entered this building, I came to my senses. It was my first time coming to Hive, and I thought it was really different." In response, Suga burst out laughing, saying, “Can you feel the taste of capital?”

After hearing this, IU said, "This is the capital (laughs). I took the elevator, but why is it so wide and shiny? And when you come in, they check your ID very thoroughly. I also brought my passport with me, because I might get kicked out. The other person is Hive, right?" “Anyway, I really like the company,” he joked.

The two people who collaborated together on the song 'Eight' released in 2020 revealed the behind-the-scenes story. Suga said, “I wasn’t the member who first wanted to collaborate,” and IU said, “At first, I asked if I could get RM’s contact information. At the time, my psychological state wasn’t that good. I thought, ‘I could express these feelings through a song. “I thought, ‘I have to make it,’ and I got (RM’s) contact information, but in the end, I couldn’t contact him,” he explained.

IU said, “The idea of the song itself was a blur,” and mentioned the reason why she started working on the song again. IU said, "I decided on the title first. The lethargy seemed to continue like 8, and I was 28 years old (at the time), so I decided that way. I thought it would be good to (work on a song) with people of the same age."

Recalling her work on 'Eight' with Suga, IU said, "I think he is the best producer among producers of his age. I felt something different when working on 'Eight' and when recording 'People Pt. 2'. While working on my own song, IU “When I did it, I felt that the standards were high and that I was strict with myself,” he said. Suga also said, "The work process was very fast. At first, I gave him about two songs. One was a bright song, but he said, 'This isn't right,' so I remade it and it became 'Eight.'"

Suga said, "That happens when I'm working on an album. There's a lot of pressure, especially when I'm working outside. Since it's someone else's song, I wonder if I'm becoming someone else for no reason. In the case of 'Eight', I was scared when I created the theme line. “I thought you could decide whether to listen to a song or not within 3 seconds,” he added.

We also looked back on the music life of IU, who debuted at the age of 16. IU, who also tried dancing through her debut songs 'Mia', 'Marshmallow', and 'Good Day', honestly confessed, "At that time, I honestly thought, 'Are you asking me to dance?'" He then recalled his intense teenage years and said, "I went to a lot of events and had a lot of radio schedules, but there was still a romantic feeling. I think those days made me who I am."

IU then expressed her feelings about entering her 30s, saying, "It's much better than my 20s. The reason I waited for my 30s was because I debuted at 16, so I kept getting told that I was young. I felt like I was viewed as young compared to my career, so my late 20s were too long. . Now I feel like singer IU and person Lee Ji-eun are the same."
