Big Bang's Daesung is in full swing despite the failure of his return to terrestrial broadcasting

Despite the failure to return to terrestrial entertainment, laughter was in full bloom. Daesung, a member of the group Big Bang, has been working as a producer for MBN's 'King of Singers' and is currently working as an OST for tvN's 'Somehow I'm the Boss 3', continuing his activities in various fields, including his day job and entertainment.

On the 6th, news of Daesung's participation in the 'Somehow CEO 3' OST was announced. ‘Naseong’s Mask’, in which Daesung participated, will be released at noon on the 7th.

‘When I Go to Naseong’ is a song by the late composer Gil Ok-yoon, and Sesam Trio is the original singer. Shim Eun-kyung and Rose Inn also sang the OST in the movie ‘Miss Granny’. Daesung's remake of 'When I Go to Naseong' can be heard in episode 7 of 'Somehow I'm the Boss 3', which airs at 8:45 pm on the 7th.

This is the first time Daesung has appeared as an OST singer in 12 years since the 2011 musical drama ‘What’s Up’. Daesung's last solo album was in 2017, and he released the albums 'D-Day', 'D'scover', and 'D'slove' in March and April. Afterwards, without any solo album activities, he participated in the 'Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter (Still Life)' album as a member of Big Bang in 2022.

Coincidentally, his solo album activities stopped after he was caught up in suspicions that a building in Gangnam purchased by Daesung was conducting sales arrangements with an illegal entertainment establishment with female helpers. At the time, Daesung was acquitted on the grounds that he was not properly aware of the companies' illegal business practices, but this incident left him with a negative image.

Daesung has been quiet since then except for Big Bang's album activities, but announced full-scale activities starting this year. The first thing that knocked on my door was MBC’s ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’ Daesung appeared on a terrestrial entertainment show for the first time in 7 years and auditioned as the top main vocalist in front of Yoo Jae-seok. Yoo Jae-seok and I have been friends for a long time, so their Tiki Taka brought laughter, but after the broadcast, the public's reaction to Daesung and the program was cold. Accordingly, the 'What Do You Do When You Play' side appointed Young K and Kim Jong-min as the main vocalists instead of Daesung.

A terrestrial entertainment show that broke a long hiatus but ultimately ended in failure. However, Daesung appeared on MBN's 'Active King of Singers' for the first time in 12 years, showing off his presence as the youngest member of the national producer and mood maker. 'Active King of Singers' also successfully completed its return to entertainment, showing an upward trend from 6.8% in the first episode to 8.5% in the second episode.

From ‘Active King of Singers’ to the ‘Extraordinary Boss 3’ OST, Daesung has killed two birds with one stone as a singer and broadcaster. The public's gaze toward him is not yet warm, but he has succeeded in ending his long hiatus. Changing the public's mind is still a task left to Daesung.
