Dex opens up about 'pedophilia' controversy

Broadcaster Dex opened up about the recent controversy. This is because he belatedly became embroiled in controversy when he revealed that he likes animations based on pedophilia.

On the afternoon of the 23rd, a production presentation for MBC's new entertainment show 'Around the World Season 3' (hereinafter referred to as 'Around the World 3') was held at MBC Golden Mouse Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul. 'Around the World 3' is a program that depicts the unplanned local travel of Gian84, Panibottle, Dex, and Lee Si-eon, who set off to Madagascar, Africa, the fourth largest island in the world, in search of pristine seas after South America and India.

Dex recently came under fire for recommending a Japanese animation that was controversial for its pedophilic content. 'Made in Abyss', recommended by Dex in a video released on YouTube last May, is a work with strong pedophilia tendencies due to scenes containing body exposure of child characters, sexual torture of female children, and infanticide. This is because it is a work that has been criticized. Accordingly, some netizens are pointing out that it was imprudent for a broadcaster with influence on the public to publicly recommend a controversial work. Some voices defend it, saying that it is not a big problem because it is a work that has received domestic review and is being streamed through OTT.

On this day, Dex said that he was aware of this controversy and said, "To tell you this with the utmost sincerity, I don't think you need to worry too much. I think you just need to be careful that what you say can be a problem for someone. Personally, I have lived “I think this is an issue that arises from differences in perspectives because our lives, experiences, and feelings are different. I will stay centered and not cause concern,” he said.
