Um Hong-gil's shocking foot condition: "The raw flesh is rotting"

Mountain climber Eom Hong-gil revealed that he had to have his toes amputated due to frostbite.

In the SBS entertainment show 'My Little Old Boy' (hereinafter referred to as 'My Little Old Boy'), which aired on the 8th, Kim Jun-ho and Lee Sang-min, along with Captain Um Hong-gil, were shown setting out to conquer Jiri Mountain, 1,915 meters above sea level, following last week's episode.

On this day, the three people set off again from the rotary shelter toward Cheonwangbong Peak. Lee Sang-min asked, "I climbed a lot of mountains, but are there any aftereffects?" and Um Hong-gil said, "I had surgery because I got frostbite twice. I'm missing a whole segment of my right big toe and part of my second toe," and revealed that he had toe amputation surgery.

When asked if the pain was so severe, Um Hong-gil said, "I can't even put it into words. Think about it. The healthy flesh is rotting away. The bones are rotting. The pain is indescribable." However, Um Hong-gil said, "When you are in pain, you regret it and think about stopping, but after that moment, you have to go up again and take on the challenge. You do it because you have a goal and a dream. No matter what, you have to persevere until the end and overcome it. Only those who overcome can succeed." He confessed and was surprised.

Eom Hong-gil continued, "I cut off some of my toes due to frostbite, and broke my right ankle when I fell while catching a local Sherpa who was ahead of me slipping down an ice wall at 7,600 meters on Annapurna. I crawled down on a rope for three days and two nights. The two were fine. “I’m happy to go to the bridge,” he said.

Through persistence and patience, the three achieved the feat of completing Cheonwangbong Peak in 11 hours and 30 minutes. Kim Jun-ho was far behind Captain Eom and Lee Sang-min, so he had to come down alone until the end, and as soon as he saw Eom Hong-gil and Lee Sang-min, he expressed his sadness and made people laugh.
