'Haunted 2' Hwang Min-hyun "I tried to express my changed exterior"
tvN's Saturday-Sunday drama 'Hwanhoon: Light and Shadow' ended its long run with its broadcast on the 8th. In this work, which tells the story of the main characters whose fates are twisted by the 'enchantment technique' that changes a person's soul, they overcome it and grow up, Hwang Min-hyun plays the role of Seo-yul, a genius nobleman.
Hwang Min-hyun's presence in the tangled character relationships was clear. As he returned after three years in the play, it wasn't just his appearance as 'Seo-yul' that changed. The three-dimensional character, which required deeper and more detailed emotional lines and flashy action acting in contrast to the heartbreaking love story, led to the review of 'the rediscovery of actor Hwang Min-hyun.'
▶ I was honored and happy to be able to work together from ‘Hwanmoon’ to ‘Hwanmoon: Light and Shadow’. I was able to grow further after meeting a good work. I don't think I will ever forget the various emotions and relationships I was able to experience through the role of 'Seoyul'.
- From Parts 1 to 2, three years passed. How did you want to express the flow of time?
▶ Seoyul got bloodworms in his body at the end of Part 1. I also lived with the guilt of not being able to protect my precious people for three years. Without forgetting these situations, I tried to express Seoyul's changed exterior and interior.
-What did you pay attention to while filming?
▶ I thought that because the blood worms inside the body were sucking energy, the external appearance should look a little different from Part 1. I practiced a lot of action acting, but I also went on a diet within a short period of time. (laugh)
- Is there a memorable episode?
▶ I actually remember feeling very sad when I found out that Jin Buyeon was Naksu and met Jin Buyeon at Jeongjingak. On the broadcast, the OST I sang, 'Tree (Just Looking at 2)', was played, and the content of the lyrics and Seoyul's feelings at that time were similar, so I was able to become more immersed in it.
- How are the feelings toward falling water different in Part 1 and Part 2?
▶ In Part 1, we learned that Moo-deok's soul is that of Nak-su, but Seo-yul's beliefs and emotions clashed, causing confusion and ultimately failing to protect Nak-su. So, three years later, when he returned to Daeho Castle and recognized Naksu, he did what he wanted so as not to regret it again, and once again, Seoyul wished Naksu happiness.
- Realizing that Naksu's soul was disappearing from Jin Buyeon's body, he wished her happiness with Jang Wook for the remaining time. If Seoyul was Hwang Minhyun, what choice would she have made?
▶ I think I would have done anything for the happiness of the person I love.
- What kind of presence was Soyi to Seoyul?
▶ Soyi is a person who cared for and liked Seoyul more than anyone else. Also, thanks to Soi, he overcame the danger of death, and although I feel pitiful and pitiful, I think he is the person for whom I am most grateful.
- Is there anything you would like to say to Seoyul?
▶ “Yul, now you can do whatever you want!”
- What kind of work will ‘Hwanmoon’ be remembered by Hwang Min-hyun?
▶ I was happy with ‘Hwanhoon’. It was a time for me to grow as an actor and as a person by meeting the director, writer, many staff members on set, and all the actors who acted with me. I will never forget this drama because it created relationships with good people.
- A word to the viewers who loved ‘Hwanmoon’.
▶ Thanks to the viewers who loved ‘Hwanmoon’ from Parts 1 to 2, we were able to spend moments filled with happiness and anticipation. The time I lived in Seoyul was like a dream to me. I hope that Seoyul, a character named Seoyul, will not be forgotten and will come to mind from time to time in the memories of many people. Once again, thank you so much to everyone.
