Sol Kyung-gu “I want to age well”

Actor Sol Kyeong-gu, who is nicknamed 'Idol of the Future', expressed his wish to age well.

Actor Sol Kyeong-gu, who appeared in the movie 'Boys' (directed by Jeong Ji-young), which was released on the 1st, appeared on JTBC's 'Newsroom' broadcast on the 4th.

This year, Sol Kyung-gu released four works, starting with the movie 'Ghost', the Netflix movie 'Gil Bok-soon', the movies 'The Moon', and 'Boys'. He said, "The curiosity that comes from the field keeps me looking for and studying new things. The field is a place that can be scary, and it is also a place that causes stress every day. Because of that stress and fear, I try to challenge myself again. “I think that kind of greed arises,” he said.

'Boys' is a true story depicting the story of the boys who were identified as the culprits of a robbery and death incident that occurred at a supermarket in a small local town, the detective who reinvestigated the case, and the people surrounding them. Regarding the reason for appearing in 'Boys', he said, "In a world where the word 'justice' is increasingly becoming a fantasy word, I hope that people will embrace the pain they experience due to the contradictions of society rather than abandoning them. It has a good meaning. “I hope that this movie will be received in this way and that we will be able to share it with many people and share many stories,” he explained.

Sol Kyung-gu said he doesn’t really like ad-libbing. He said, "Heo Seong-tae appears in our movie, and he ad-libs without hesitation. He said it was his first time playing a good role and he really liked it. He said it was his first time playing a good role." Also, regarding the gift of an actor's chair to Heo Seong-tae, he said, "It was because I was grateful. I was grateful for almost everything, but I felt even more affectionate because he was now an actor who was like my close friend in the role."

Sol Kyeong-gu said, “I think that the function that movies can have is still a bit of a social function. If we share stories like this and talk about events, we become more interested.” The film that brought a turning point for Sol Kyeong-gu was the movie ‘Bad Guy: The World of Bad Guys’ (director Byun Seong-hyun). Regarding this, he said, "That was the turning point. At that time, director Byun Seong-hyun was there, and when I first met him, I thought he was imprisoning me and making me unable to be free, so I clashed with him a lot during the early filming. I told him to leave me alone, but in the process of checking what he had filmed, he “Something was different. So from then on, I listened carefully.”

Not only that, "When I was in a play, I did comical acting. My friends who saw me in a play said, 'That person seems like he could do comedy.' “I seem to have become more reticent. I also want to do comedy,” he said. “I try to show a new side of myself, but I can’t. It’s because I don’t think that a new role can be created by completely breaking away from myself. Acting is a place where I start with the material I have. That's why I think it has its limits. I tend to think that way to an extreme because I think that if the essence is visible, it's not 100% creation."

Lastly, Sol Kyung-gu said, "I started acting without even thinking that I would be making movies or doing something like this. That's why I think I have achieved a lot. I want to age well as I grow older. I can see it on my face now. “I feel like I want to lose a lot. I think the future is more of a problem.”
