Actress Kim Hyun-joo expressed her respect for the late Kang Soo-yeon, with whom she co-starred in the Netflix movie 'Jeong-i'.

On the 25th, I met Kim Hyun-joo, who appeared in the Netflix movie 'Jeong-i', at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

Kim Hyun-joo played the role of Jeong-i, a subject for brain cloning to develop the best combat AI. Jeongi is a former elite leader of the Allied Forces and a legendary mercenary who participated in numerous operations and led them to victory. He participated in the final bombing operation that could have ended the civil war that had lasted for decades, but the operation failed and he fell into a vegetative state. He becomes the subject of brain cloning to develop a combat AI that contains all of Jeongi's strategies, combat skills, strong loyalty and will.

Kim Hyun-joo chose the emotional scene with the late Kang Soo-yeon as a memorable scene. Kang Soo-yeon takes on the role of Yoon Seo-hyeon, a team leader at a research lab that develops brain cloning and AI technology. Seohyun is also the daughter of the human Jeongi.

Kim Hyun-joo said, "There was a scene in the last scene where I had to exchange lines with a senior. I think my emotions were particularly high that day. It was almost at the end. Instead of being in the same room as the senior, there was a wall between us. This was almost the first and last time we exchanged lines. “I remember that scene because it was like that,” he recalled. He continued, "There is a scene where Seohyun is talking to me in a whisper, but I keep my eyes closed. My senior said, 'I cry when I look at her.' She also doesn't show her emotions often at the beginning of the story. It's probably because she's been holding on to those emotions for a long time. “It wasn’t until later that I thought about it,” he said.

What kind of actress does Kim Hyun-joo remember Kang Soo-yeon, whom she worked with directly, as an actress? Kim Hyun-joo said, "It's not an actor I can dare say. It's not an actor I thought I'd be able to meet." He then confessed, "It was very difficult for me to meet him before," and "He was a senior and an adult on set. He treated me as an actor who was acting with me, and I felt the same way." Also, "I was watching the preview, and while watching the senior in the movie, I thought, 'He's a real movie star.' He's a legendary figure, isn't he? He acted without even realizing it on set, but when I saw him on screen, I thought, 'He's a real movie star.' “I thought it was cool,” he said.

In the movie, Kim Hyun-joo appears as Kang Soo-yeon's mother. In the play, Jeong-i went on a mission as a young man and became a vegetative state, and as time passes, Jeong-i's daughter Seohyun creates the best mercenary AI by cloning her mother's brain to restore her mother's honor. When asked how she felt about being cast as a mother-daughter relationship with Kang Soo-yeon, Kim Hyun-joo laughed and said, "When I first received the offer, I didn't have any information, so I naturally thought she was the daughter." He continued, “When I received the scenario, it was refreshing because it was an upside-down mother-daughter relationship. I already knew that Seohyun was my daughter, so it was difficult to exclude emotions when playing Jeongi, who didn’t know that. “I think it would be difficult for me to talk about what it was like,” he said.

'Jeong-i' is a science fiction film that tells the story of people who try to develop the best combat AI by cloning the brain of the legendary mercenary 'Jeong-i' in order to end the war that broke out in the shelter where they migrated away from the Earth devastated by climate change. It was released on Netflix on the 20th.
