Yoo Yeon-seok "'Reply' was a chaotic time, I had a lot of worries"
Actor Yoo Yeon-seok revealed that he was worried about the changes that occurred after gaining great popularity with 'Reply 1994'.
On the 9th, I met actor Yoo Yeon-seok at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul and conducted an interview for the end of the JTBC Wednesday-Thursday drama 'Love Understanding'.
'Understanding Love' is a melodrama that tells the story of people with different interests meeting and understanding the true meaning of love. Yoo Yeon-seok played the role of Ha Sang-soo, the manager of the general counseling team at KCU Bank.
What was it like working with Moon Ga-young? Yoo Yeon-seok joked, "At the beginning of the drama, I felt awkward because I was filming with excitement. Also, it was particularly hot at the time, so my face and ears were a little red, but viewers said I was acting with excitement with my face and ears as well. Coincidentally, it was because it was hot." “In the second half of the film, actress Moon Ga-young had a lot of work experience and had been active since she was young compared to her age, so it wasn’t difficult to focus and film,” he said.
He continued, "Sooyoung's character is a really difficult role, but depending on the scene, she is really cool-headed when she acts cold-hearted, and we focused a lot on making sure that those things are expressed naturally. The charm of our drama is that we express subtle emotions, and we do that very delicately. “I was able to express it with great immersion,” he said.
It is said that MBTI also changed while filming ‘Love and Understanding’. Yoo Yeon-seok said, "I used to be an ENFP, but I changed to ISTP. I'm not sure if it was because I was thinking about Sang-soo's feelings or if it was just timing."
Yoo Yeon-seok gained great popularity by playing the role of Chilbong in ‘Reply 1994’ (2013). However, there were many concerns due to the suddenly changed environment. He said, "Ten years after my debut, the public remembered me as Chilbong. I think I couldn't handle it because so many people came to see me at the time. It was a confusing time. I didn't know what kind of person I was originally, and I was evaluated well even if many people didn't recognize me. “I thought about what the reason was, and tried to find my constant value, to become more normal like a constant,” he said. “So much has changed in the past year or two. I had a negative bank account, but my bank account balance became positive. After that, ‘ “I got to do ‘Romantic Doctor: Teacher Kim’ (2016), and it was a time when I learned a lot from senior Han Seok-gyu,” he said.
