Kim Ok-bin challenges romantic comedy with ‘Love Battle’
Kim Ok-bin revealed that she chose romantic comedy because she wanted to show a new side of herself with a different role and genre.

On the 13th, I met actress Kim Ok-bin, who appeared in the Netflix series 'Love Battle', at a cafe in Samcheong-dong, Seoul.

Kim Ok-bin played the role of Yeo Mi-ran, a bold lawyer at Gilmu Law Firm. Yeo Mi-ran pathologically hates losing to men.

Kim Ok-bin said that this character has many similarities to herself. Kim Ok-bin said, "In addition to pathologically hating to lose, Mi-ran also grew up in a patriarchal environment, and I was similar. When I was young, my grandmother and father told me not to run around the house like a farmhand. The way we respond to the environment and situations we grow up in is similar. “There were a lot of them,” he said. “At first, I even asked the writer if the character was created with me in mind.”

Kim Ok-bin, who attempted a romantic comedy for the first time, said, "It's been a while since I debuted, but I haven't shown this side of me much. I'm not good at being shy. I thought it didn't suit me, so I stayed away from it. Then, when I hit my 30s, I got tired of similar roles. “An actor should not be fixed on one role or image, but I thought, ‘I must have been narrow-minded in my intake of work.’ That’s when I decided to try something different, and that’s when I came across ‘Love Battle.’” He continued, "At first, I was afraid that I would be good at it. At the same time, I thought that I could do well because the character was similar to mine. However, since I had never shown it to people, I was worried that I might approach people awkwardly." He also said, "I need to see more people's reactions, but my friends around me say it's okay, so I'm somewhat satisfied."

'Love Battle' is a romantic comedy about a woman who pathologically hates losing to a man and a man who is pathologically suspicious of women, and are healed through a war-like love. It was released on the 10th.
