In the 9th episode of tvN's Monday-Tuesday drama 'A Tale of Youth' that aired on the 6th, Lee Hwan (played by Park Hyeong-sik) and Min Jae-yi (played by Jeon So-ni), who saw through the trick of the plum tree struck by lightning, took advantage of it to get rid of Jo Won-bo (played by Jeong Woong-in). Lee Hwan and Min Jae-i, who realized that the enemy's goal was 'to take control of the entire Joseon Dynasty and shake it up' through the curse of the government (played by Lee Chae-kyung), first met with the priest Jang Gar-ram (played by Pyo Ye-jin) to find out the cause of the plum tree fire. I visited Myung-jin Kim (played by Tae-seon Lee). Kim Myeong-jin, who heard Min Jae-yi say that the tree smelled like gunpowder, was amazed when he immediately figured out that the fire in the plum tree was made by mixing sulfur, salt vinegar, and beeswax, befitting his reputation for studying all things in the world.
Unlike salt and beeswax that can be obtained from the private sector, sulfur is a material that is not easily obtained, so if we can find someone who bought it in large quantities around the same time, we can also identify the culprit who set the plum tree on fire. Accordingly, Min Jae-i, who was checking the names of the ledgers he collected while walking around the streets, was confused when he found the name of Han Seong-on's father, Han Jung-eon (played by Jo Seong-ha), in them.
This fact soon reached the ears of the king (Jo Seong-ha), and Uigeumbu officials stormed into Han Jung-eon's house. Lee Hwan, who appeared while Han Seong-on was embarrassed by the unexpected situation, heightened the ominous atmosphere by mentioning Han Jung-eon's crime. Lee Hwan, who looked coldly at Han Seong-on, who begged for a chance to prove his father's innocence, surprised everyone by saying that he would clear his name himself.
Lee Hwan knew that Jo Won-bo (played by Jeong Woong-in), the leader of his maternal relatives, was planning to exploit this to eliminate his political opponents after finding out through a secretly stolen ledger that Han Jung-eon had purchased salt, wax, and sulfur to prepare for his son's marriage. Lee Hwan, who regretted the moment when he was in fear of unknown reality and did not trust his one and only friend, took all the risk to protect Han Seong-on and his family, opened the gate of light himself, and revealed the reason why Han Jung-eon bought salt, wax, and sulfur.
Han Seong-on, who was so relieved that he even had tears in his eyes, was heartbroken when Lee Hwan asked him if he would become his friend again, and he answered, "I have never been friends with you." Lee Hwan also looked with deep eyes at his friend, who he had just barely recovered, and pledged, “I have a friend, I trust him, and I will protect him,” showing that Lee Hwan’s previously unstable heart is slowly becoming stronger.
“It’s a miracle. As Min Jae-yi said, “People meet, rely on and trust each other,” Lee Hwan and Han Seong-on have now formed a deep, miraculous friendship that not even a ghost could separate. While the growth of Lee Hwan, who is gradually freeing himself from the anxiety that binds him, leaves a deep impression, attention is focused on what role the relationship between the three people, connected by faith, will play in discovering the hidden truth.
