Kim Ji-hoon, amid the JMS revelations, “It’s more cruel than the movie”

Channel A's crime documentary thriller 'Black 2: Soul Destroyers' (hereinafter referred to as 'Black'), which is scheduled to air for the first time in March, has released the first interview with director and actor duo Yang Ik-jun and Kim Ji-hoon, who will look into the case together. Actor and film director Yang Ik-jun of 'Hell' and 'Dungfly' said, "I want to play a role in helping victims of malicious incidents that occur in society's blind spots to speak out," and spoke about crimes in everyday life that creep up on us secretly. He promised that he would clearly inform us. Kim Ji-hoon, who is with him, expressed his strong determination to change the world, saying, “I hope many people will take interest in me.”
After filming for the first time, the two people said in unison, “The incident is so shocking.” Yang Ik-jun expressed his passion for the program’s positive function, predicting, “Our program will play a role in preventing the recurrence of such incidents.” Below is a Q&A with Yang Ik-jun (hereinafter referred to as Yang) and Kim Ji-hoon (hereinafter referred to as Kim).
Q1. Why did you decide to appear?
Yang: Movies and many stories are based on reality. I decided to appear on the program because I hoped that by re-examining the events that occurred in real life with the director and actors, I would gain a clear understanding of the ugly incident, and that it would serve as an opportunity for awakening along with many viewers who watch the broadcast.
Kim: I’ve always been very interested in crime-related programs. When I first received the offer to appear in 'Black', I wanted to participate if the conditions and circumstances were right. I also found the setting of the director and actor pairing up to talk and tell the story very attractive. Things went well and I ended up joining 'Black'.
Q2. What do you think is different from other crime-related programs? Please select a viewing point.
Yang: I think that if the director and actors participating in a work based on real society introduce events, the program will feel more authentic to viewers.
Kim: I know that season 1 also attracted a lot of attention. Returning with Season 2, the production team does not rest on its laurels, but constantly thinks and tries new variations, and the director and actor team up as director Jang Jin and actor Choi Young-jun, director Jang Yoon-jung and actor Oh Dae-hwan, and director Yang Ik-jun and actor Kim Ji-hoon. Proceed. I think it will be a point to watch to see how each team views and talks about the incident.
Q3. I am curious about what role you would like to play as a performer.
Yang: I hope to play a role in providing clear information about the incidents so that victims of malicious incidents occurring in society's blind spots can speak out.
Kim: After finishing recording episode 1, I was shocked that it was not a movie but something that actually happened. I was very angry. Although I may not have a professional perspective, I want to be honest and empathize with what I feel as a person. Furthermore, I hope that many people will become interested in these things because of me. I think it would be enough if all that interest could come together and change the world even just a little bit.
Q4. I'm curious what you think the purpose or intention of this program was.
Yang: I think it is a program with the beneficial purpose of listening to the voices of victims and preventing additional victims by shedding new light on cases where victims exist but may be forgotten.
Kim: I think that through 'Black', many people will become more interested in the crimes that happened around us and that should never happen again.
Q5. How do you feel after filming for the first time?
Yang: I search for materials and make basic preparations in advance for the story I'm going to introduce, but when I actually record it, I'm shocked even though it's an incident I already know. Nevertheless, we have no doubt that our program will play a role in preventing the recurrence of such malicious incidents.
Kim: The story of episode 1 was about a heinous incident that occurred in a church. Many thoughts went back and forth about the reality being crueler than the movie. As it is season 2, I am very curious about what stories await.
Q6. I'm curious about your relationship with the director or actor you partnered with, and what the chemistry was like.
Yang: It was my first time meeting actor Kim Ji-hoon, but after broadcasting together, I thought we were good compatibility as partners. We have the same job as actors and have similar hair lengths, so I think we will be good partners in the future.
Kim: Director Yang Ik-jun, who I worked with as my partner, is someone I really wanted to meet because I remember being very impressed with the movie ‘Dongfly’. It is an honor to work together like this this time.
Q7. Is there anything you would like to say to the viewers?
Yang: It's dark, and it's not a good story to listen to, but I hope that it will be a time for us to learn together that there are voices of some people in it that we need to hear.
Kim: I thought it would be great for many viewers to watch it together and share their thoughts. I hope you'll join us from the first broadcast.
Channel A's 'Black 2: Soul Destroyers', which will take a deeper look into the story of reality, which is more brutal than movies that delve into everyday life, is scheduled to be broadcast for the first time in March.
