Lee Hye-won sent an SOS to Ahn Jung-hwan with a ‘smoking gun’

A scientific investigation talk show is unfolding that combines cold reason, warm emotion, and the process of solving crimes through reasoning.

On the 29th, the production presentation of KBS2's 'Forensic Investigation Team Smoking Gun' was broadcast live online. Broadcasters Ahn Hyun-mo and Lee Hye-won, and forensic scientist Yoo Seong-ho attended the event.

‘Forensic Investigations Smoking Gun’ is a crime talk program that highlights the power of scientific investigation to find evidence in traces left behind by criminals and uncover the truth.

Ahn Hyun-mo plays the role of the 'brain' of the program, analyzing cases with a cool-headed and rational perspective as expected from a journalist. Ahn Hyun-mo said, "I was happy to be cast in a great program, but at the same time, I was worried. In the future, I would be dealing with murder and sexual violence incidents, so I was worried about what kind of expression I would be able to show. I was worried because it would be bad for the viewers if I showed an uncomfortable expression. "I was also concerned that the program would focus on entertainment. However, the production team said that they would never make it fun and interesting, and that they did not want copycat crimes and were trying to prevent them, so I decided to appear," he said.

He added, "When I returned home after recording, my forehead felt so numb and sore. It's so sincere. Because it's not focused on interest, viewers will see their homes a little differently when they come home, and it's a program that opens their eyes to society."

When asked about the three people's chemistry, Ahn Hyun-mo said, "It's impossible not to get along. When an external enemy appears, the internal unity becomes stronger. Because we deal with a heinous incident, we come together."

Lee Hye-won, Ahn Jung-hwan's wife and former Miss Korea, takes on the role of 'heart' who, as a mother and a woman, sympathizes with the pain of the victims and represents the viewers' position. Her husband, Ahn Jung-hwan, also appears in a similar program, ‘Brave Detectives.’ Hyewon Lee said, "I was very worried because I was doing a similar program with my husband. I wondered if it would be possible for a couple to do a similar program together, or if it wouldn't make sense. But after doing it, I actually saw a synergy. I got a lot of help, made a lot of requests, and chose my words. “I’ve been doing a lot of SOS since then,” he said.

She continued, "I was always interested in crime and investigation. Even when my husband was offered 'Brave Detectives,' I pushed him to do it," and added, "I'm interested in psychology as well as crime. Raising a child is actually a psychological battle." “It’s a continuation. Being a husband is also a series of psychological battles, but having a child is even more so,” he added.

When asked about Ahn Jung-hwan's reaction after taking on the role of host of 'Smoking Gun', Lee Hye-won said, "It started out as advice, but then turned into nagging. At first, he said that there would be an afterimage for 2-3 days after recording than expected, and he gave sincere advice asking if he would be able to endure it. "That's how it started," he said, trailing off, "As he got more and more talkative, he kept telling me that I shouldn't use these words, and that I shouldn't use these words when responding. I'm so grateful."

Yoo Seong-ho, a professor of forensic science at Seoul National University, takes on a new challenge as the 'backbone' and host of the program. Yoo Seong-ho said, "At first, I refused to appear. I don't watch programs that convey crime in an interesting and dramatic way. However, I felt that this program was different in that it could objectively convey scientific investigation and forensics in addition to storytelling."

When asked about the difference from similar incident programs, Yoo Seong-ho said, "It delivers scientific investigative techniques and objective investigation methods that other programs cannot include and that have not even been attempted. Rather than telling interestingly that such an incident occurred through a story, it uses the tool called science. “It shows how to solve a problem. It is a program that reveals what helps prevent crime and solve cases, so I am confident that it will be able to deliver fun and education,” he said.

Ahn Hyun-mo added, “It covers scientific investigation techniques in detail that other programs would only provide with one or two lines of explanation.”

Ahn Hyun-mo also emphasized, "Ultimately, programs like this should disappear. The ultimate goal is to eliminate the shortage of items, but since many crimes are not stopping and many facts are true, I will inform you of the information you need to know."

‘Forensic Investigation Team’s Smoking Gun’ will be aired for the first time on the 29th at 9:50 PM.
