Baek Jong-won declares a break-up with local merchants

On the official YouTube channel released on the 3rd, a video titled ‘Alternative Yesan Gukbap Street, what is going on there?’ was posted.
In the released video, Baek Jong-won spent time talking with merchants in the Gukbap Street area. He said, “If a hygiene problem arises in one of your stores or is reported in the news, it will be embarrassing because it will be made public in the budget.”
He then emphasized the importance of hygiene, saying, “What was not a big deal before can become a big deal.”
A local merchant who heard this said, "These are people who do business in the market, but it's so difficult because they meddle in every little detail and make things difficult for people." He added, "Please leave us out."
Baek Jong-won expressed concern, saying, “I’m worried,” and “Hygiene laws have changed a lot recently.”
However, despite Baek Jong-won's words, a local merchant said, "I will do that even if I have to pay 10 million won for a year of business suspension, so I want to do my business that way."
In response, Baek Jong-won expressed bitterness, saying, "Some stores that did not attend (the meeting) even requested SOS to help, but they told us not to interfere because things were going well."
He also said, "In the budget, we came up with several ideas to revitalize the region on our own, and one of them was to allow rice soup to be sold in temporary tents." He added, "When we actually did it, the military needed a marketing element, and it happened to be MBC's 'My Little Television'. He was known as someone who used a lot of sugar, so (the county governor at the time) said he would add Baek Jong-won to Gukbap Street. I was afraid that people would think I was directly involved, so I tried hard to dissuade him, but in the end, the county governor said, "Baek Jong-won said.
In the end, Baek Jong-won said, "I am sorry to deliver difficult news," and "I discussed with the military and decided to remove Baek Jong-won's name."
Lastly, he added, “I put in a lot of effort and spent a lot of money over the years, but I think (the bosses) were uncomfortable,” and added, “If they say they’ll help more but make a mistake, they’ll end up in trouble.”
