Kim Dong-wook and Jin Ki-joo boarded a time travel trip with different purposes.

KBS2's new Monday-Tuesday drama 'You, the One I Met by Chance', which first aired on the 1st, recorded a viewership rating of 4.5% from the first episode, taking first place in its time slot, signaling a good start.

The first broadcast began with Yoon Hae-joon (played by Kim Dong-wook) driving somewhere on a deserted tunnel through inclement weather. Hae-joon said, ‘Looking back, it was a really strange night. It was then. I discovered a vintage car that functioned as a time machine with the narration, 'That's why it appeared in front of me', and soon his face, which was very flushed after traveling through time several times, aroused my curiosity. Hae-joon then returned to 1987 and told the children the story of his adventures.

Hae-joon, who appeared at a simple neighborhood party, objected to the words of people celebrating peace in the village. The residents all laughed when Hae-joon said that six delinquent teenagers would start rampaging while inhaling bond, but soon what he predicted actually happened. Hae-joon's performance in foreseeing the future and saving the lives of students implied that he was traveling through time and wrongly changing fate.

After saving the village children, Hae-joon began living a 'fake life' as a teacher at a high school in Woojeong-ri. It was revealed that there was a reason for his actions, whose true intentions were unknown. He used a time machine to travel to 2021, met a prisoner serving time on charges of the 1987 Woojeong-ri serial murder case, and left meaningful remarks, saying, "I'm going to find the real culprit. That's how you and I live." Hae-joon, who goes back and forth between the past and present, stimulated curiosity about how he will solve the mystery of the serial murder case.

In 2021, Baek Yoon-yeong (played by Jin Ki-joo) was the editor of famous writer Go Mi-sook (played by Kim Hye-eun) and was suffering from workload and abuse of power. He was also in conflict with his mother Lee Soon-ae (Lee Ji-hyun), who couldn't take care of herself because she only thought about her family. Yoon-yeong, unable to breathe due to the situation that was weighing him down, spit out harsh words to his mother, and eventually came face to face with Sun-ae, who had become a cold corpse. The fact that the body of Soon-ae, who is presumed to have committed suicide, was found near the Han River in the unrelated village of Woojeong-ri raised suspicion and added to the atmosphere of mystery.

After arguing with her father, Baek Hee-seop (played by Lee Gyu-hoe), who was neglectful at home, Yoon-yeong wandered around aimlessly with the sole intention of turning back time, until she reached the bridge in question. Yun-yeong, who entered the tunnel as if drawn by something, was hit by Hae-joon's car, who was about to travel through time, and lost consciousness. Yoon-young, who regained consciousness, was shocked to realize that she had returned to the past, and Hae-joon was also frustrated as he could no longer return to the present. It turns out that Hae-joon saw a future where he was murdered by someone, and upon learning that the culprit was the real culprit of the 'Woojeong-ri serial murder case', he tried to go back to the past and reveal the whole truth.

There was a surprising twist at the end of the first episode. Yoon-young, who met her mother Sun-ae (Seo Ji-hye) in her younger days before marrying her father, was happy to have come to the past, and Hae-joon was puzzled by her attitude. Meanwhile, the sight of writer Go Mi-sook, who hired Yoon Young, returning home with mud-covered shoes sent shivers down viewers' spines. In addition, the fact that Mi-sook and Sun-ae were childhood friends was revealed together, adding to the significance.

Episode 2 of ‘I Met You by Chance’ will be aired at 9:50 PM on the 2nd.
