The meal corps’ ‘No Leftovers Day’ is in trouble.

In the 8th episode of JTBC's entertainment show 'Korean's Plate', which airs today (13th), American elementary school students are introduced to popular Korean school lunch menus and give honest reviews, confusing the school lunch group.

Ahead of the first K-meal journey in the United States, the meal corps set a goal of ‘no leftovers day’. They tried to capture the taste buds of American elementary school students by preparing dishes such as pork kimchi fried rice, fish cake soup, and tteokgalbi, which are regular K-meal menu items and highly preferred menu items. In particular, the food service corps put a lot of effort into designing pork kimchi fried rice topped with a generous amount of egg for American students who are sensitive to spicy tastes.

Contrary to the concerns of the meal corps, the students neutralize the spiciness in their own way and finish the pork kimchi fried rice. There are even many children who thoroughly enjoy pork kimchi fried rice, expressing ‘maebbusim (pride in being good at eating spicy food)’. It is said that chef Lee Yeon-bok burst into laughter and was relieved when a favorable response exploded, contrary to his concerns.

However, as the distribution continues, children begin to show aversion to unfamiliar K-food. There are a variety of honest reactions from students who spit out their food without chewing it when faced with an unfamiliar menu to students who leave all their food behind. There was even a situation where a child refused to eat, saying, “I don’t want to eat,” surprising the food service corps.

Attention is being paid to whether the meal service corps, which ambitiously planned a 'No Leftovers Day', will be able to achieve the 90% satisfaction level suggested by the client in the candid bombardment of children with clear likes and dislikes.

Episode 8 of ‘Korean Food Plate’ will be broadcast at 7:10 PM on this day.
