Oh Jeong-se, who was professor, meets Kim Tae-ri... 'Demon' shadow covering half of face
Oh Jung-se, who played the role of Yeom Hae-sang, a folklore professor who can see demons in SBS' new Friday-Saturday drama 'Ghost', directly expressed his feelings about working on the work. What is the charm of the drama 'Ghost' that he felt that he had the same mind as the sea while acting?

Yeom Hae-sang, played by Oh Jeong-se in 'Evil Ghost', is a person who has been able to see ghosts and gods since he was a child. At first, they pretended not to be scared and pretended not to know, but they began digging persistently to find the demon that killed their mother. After snooping around all religions and reading related books in the library, he vaguely found the answer in the study of folklore, fell in love with it, and even became a professor. In order to find the evil spirit, he ran to the dying village where no one goes and did local research, and visited abandoned houses, house sites, excavation sites, palaces and tombs, and antique shops across the country. Then one day, he meets Gu San-yeong (played by Kim Tae-ri) and reunites with the demon he has been looking for so long.

The character poster released today (8th) clearly shows what kind of person Yeom Hae-sang is. A person who gradually lacked social skills because he saw what others could not see, and steadily walked the path he had to go to find evil spirits even if no one believed in him. From a cynical, expressionless face, only the eyes that closely observe and observe the opponent are alive. The 'shadow' that symbolizes the demon in the work covers half of his face, and it seems to show his life, which is not an exaggeration to say that he has lived with demons all his life.

Oh Jeong-se introduced Yeom Hae-sang as “a folklorist with a lonely pain who sees ghosts.” Concerned about how to approach to play this character, he focused on the “emotion of the sea” rather than professional knowledge or academic aspects. The big story frame of chasing evil spirits was well designed and created by Kim Eun-hee, so I thought a lot about the emotions of the sea moving in it. In addition, “We must hold ancestral rites to comfort our ancestors. If that is difficult, at least have a godly heart.”

Through such endless research and analysis, Oh Jeong-se has come to have a mind like that of the sea. “Words such as honor, remember, and remembrance are very important to Hae-sang. While working on this piece, I also felt that these words approached me very differently than before. It feels like the meaning itself has become thicker and deeper.” So, although it is fiction, he said that he tried not to lose his sincere and pious heart throughout his acting.

What he wants to show through 'Yeom Hae Sang' is also in line with this. It focuses on the essential charm of the drama 'Ghost', which is a story of a warm person behind the horror of the genre of Korean occult mystery. “During the process of chasing evil spirits, the sea meets people who are exposed to many dangers. There are times when I help them, and I miss them because I can't catch their hands, but please pay attention to Hae-sang's heart to help them without passing by."

Lastly, “Hae-sang transforms from a lacking adult who lives entangled in the past to an adult who grows little by little while going through the process of finding and chasing the reality of evil spirits. I hope you can fully enjoy the fun of the spectacle and the hidden story in the story of chasing the demons,” he said. Furthermore, if you pay attention to how these relationships and narratives are tied and released from the past to the present, you can see it more excitingly,” he said, giving tips for viewing.

'Ghost' is a Korean-style occult mystery drama in which a woman possessed by a demon and a man who can see the demon uncover a mysterious death. It will be broadcast for the first time on June 23 at 10 PM.
