EVNNE Returns Stronger with New Single 'Backtalk' and Unique Digicore Sound
EVNNE, the boy group, has returned with a stronger bond and a unique musical identity after restructuring into a five-member team.
On the 20th, EVNNE held a showcase at the MyungHwa Live Hall in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their first single 'Backtalk.' Originally formed as a project group with members from Mnet's 'Boys Planet,' EVNNE now consists of Keita, Park Han-bin, Lee Jung-hyun, Moon Jung-hyun, and Park Ji-hoo, promising a new synergy.
"Embracing Our Imperfections"... EVNNE's Honest Confession as a Five-Member Group
The new album reflects the members' involvement from the planning stages, focusing on the themes of 'honesty' and 'self-reflection.' Instead of presenting an idealized image, they chose to confront their imperfections head-on.
Leader Keita described the comeback as "an opportunity to reveal our flaws honestly and share our vulnerabilities, showcasing a new side of the group." Moon Jung-hyun defined this activity as a 'new beginning,' while the youngest member, Park Ji-hoo, emphasized that "this will solidify EVNNE's future direction and image."
Exploring the Unfamiliar 'Digicore' Genre... EVNNE's Experimental Spirit
The title track 'Backtalk' adopts the 'digicore' genre, which is relatively unfamiliar in the K-pop scene. With a blend of trap rhythms and distorted 808 bass sounds, the song conveys a message of boldly declaring one's truth without succumbing to others' views. EVNNE aims to differentiate themselves musically from other groups through this experimental genre choice.
The music video also features a unique narrative of 'self-diss.' Set in an abstract and chaotic virtual space called 'EVNNE'S PLANET,' the members confront their alter egos and overcome internal conflicts. Member Park Han-bin explained, "The act of throwing something symbolizes our core message of breaking and overcoming our weaknesses."

Handheld Microphone Performance... Proving 'True Synergy' on Stage
During the showcase, EVNNE showcased their live performance skills by using handheld microphones for the first time since their debut. Their dynamic choreography and expressive facial performances captivated the audience. Park Ji-hoo shared, "Learning the new style of choreography was challenging, but our teamwork enhanced the performance's completeness."
The showcase concluded with the track 'STAY,' which combines hyperpop and electro dance elements. All members participated in writing the lyrics, adding depth to the song. It conveys the determination to carve their own path rather than waiting for miracles, and the members' enjoyment of the stage left a lasting impression.
EVNNE plans to establish themselves as artists who pave their own way through this activity. Lee Jung-hyun expressed, "We genuinely love this team and the stage," adding, "The current moment of continuing our activities feels like a miracle."
