DAY6's Wonpil to Release New Solo Album 'Unpiltered' Revealing Raw Emotions

DAY6's Wonpil is set to unveil his raw emotions with his new solo album.

Wonpil will release his first solo mini-album 'Unpiltered' and its title track 'Sarang Byungdong' on the 30th. Debuting with DAY6 in September 2015, Wonpil has been known for his delicate sensibility. Following his first solo full-length album 'Pilmography' in February 2022, this marks his new release after about four years.

Previously, Wonpil teased his new work with concept films, tracklists, photos, and 'Unpiltered Records' teasers, hinting at an album filled with 'unfiltered emotions.' The album 'Unpiltered' aims to naturally capture his inner self and narrative. In the content, he shared, "While receiving much love as part of DAY6, I wanted to express my deep and honest emotions without any filters." He further explained, "Rather than conveying a grand message, I wanted to explore what 'being myself' and 'being Wonpil' truly means. This album was a journey to find answers to those questions."

Wonpil has contributed to DAY6's hit songs like 'HAPPY' and 'Welcome to the Show,' and has been part of the group's first unit DAY6 (Even of Day), as well as his solo debut. The new album features the title track 'Sarang Byungdong,' along with 'Toxic Love,' 'I Became an Adult,' 'Up All Night,' 'Step by Step,' 'Not a Million Roses,' and 'Piano,' showcasing an archive of emotions he has accumulated over time.

The title track 'Sarang Byungdong' is a song that reflects the complex emotions within Wonpil, expressed through the theme of 'love.' The dramatic auditory progression enhances the song's immersion. The reunion with Lee Woo-min "collapsedone," who worked on DAY6's debut track 'Congratulations' and other hits like 'Letting Go,' 'You Were Beautiful,' 'Shoot Me,' and 'I Like You,' adds to the anticipation. The song promises a fresh musical mood distinct from his previous works. With his first solo album track 'Wish You Luck,' Wonpil wished everyone good fortune, and with 'Sarang Byungdong,' he sings of resolution and expression that resonates with listeners.

Wonpil has organized a promotion to showcase his first solo mini-album, expanding the listening experience for audiences. From April 27 to 29, he will host 'WONPIL 1st Mini Album Listening Pop-up 'WONPIL: Unpiltered Layers'' in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, offering a listening session. Additionally, from May 1 to 3, he will hold a solo concert 'WONPIL SOLO CONCERT 'Unpiltered'' at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Songpa-gu, Seoul, to meet with fans. Following his first solo concert 'Pilmography' with his full-length album, he aims to vividly convey the charm of his new solo work through various touchpoints.

Wonpil's mini-album 'Unpiltered' and the title track 'Sarang Byungdong' will be available on various music sites at 6 PM on the 30th.
