ODD YOUTH Makes a Bold Comeback with 'Babyface' After 11 Months
The group, consisting of Summer, Maya, Maika, Kani, and Yea-eum, released their second single 'Babyface' on the 12th, marking their return after approximately 11 months.
On the same day, ODD YOUTH captivated global fans with their first performance of 'Babyface' on Mnet's 'M Countdown'. The group impressed with their vibrant styling, healthy charm, and precise choreography, dominating the stage with their intense energy.
Expressing the emotions felt at the cusp of their teens and twenties in their unique language, ODD YOUTH shared insights about 'Babyface' in a Q&A session.
ODD YOUTH Q&A
Q. How do you feel about making a comeback after about 11 months since your first mini-album 'I Like You'?
Summer: It feels like debuting again, and I'm excited every time a photo is released. I'm really looking forward to performing on stage!
Maya: I want to thank our fans and everyone who waited for us! I'm nervous and excited because it's been a while. I'm happy to show a new and improved side of us!
Q. Can you introduce the new song 'Babyface'?
Maika: It features an addictive melody and rhythm, unlike anything we've shown before. 'Babyface' reveals a more mature side of ODD YOUTH.
Kani: Listen for our charming voices layered over a heavy bass. It's a key listening point!
Q. What was the main focus while preparing for this comeback?
Summer: We aimed to show ODD YOUTH's growth and maturity. I focused a lot on expressions during practice to show a different side of us.
Kani: As all members are now in their twenties, we worked hard to create a new look and atmosphere.
Q. Did you make any personal growth or improvements for this comeback compared to 'I Like You'?
Summer: I exercised more and studied expressions by watching videos of other artists.
Maya: I practiced a lot in high heels for this song. It was tough at first, but I got used to it.
Maika: I practiced dancing in heels a lot and worked on making cool expressions, not just cute ones.
Kani: I focused on physical changes through exercise and care, and worked hard to improve my skills.
Yea-eum: I felt I wasn't perfect last time, so I managed myself more diligently and improved my dance skills.
Q. Any memorable moments or episodes during the comeback preparation?
Maika: My birthday was during the music video shoot. Summer congratulated me just before the cue, and everyone celebrated right after. It was a memorable and grateful moment.
Q. What are your goals or desired reactions for this comeback?
Maya: I want to show a more mature 'cool sister' vibe rather than just cute. The contrast is key.
Yea-eum: I want the title 'perfect ODD YOUTH'. We've worked hard, and I hope we achieve that title.
Q. Lastly, a message for ODDIZ (official fandom) who have been waiting for your comeback.
Summer: Thank you so much for waiting. Let's do our best together this time! We'll repay you with great performances.
Maya: We'll show you a proud, beautiful, and cool side. We'll give you more energy and love! Love you.
Maika: Thank you for waiting, ODDIZ. I'm excited to finally see you! We'll work hard to show a better side. Love you always!
Kani: Thank you for waiting so long. We've worked hard to repay you, so please enjoy!
