Heeseung, a member of the group ENHYPEN, is leaving the team. This unexpected news comes with more than a year left on his contract, making it an unusual case.

ENHYPEN's agency, Belift Lab, officially announced Heeseung's departure. With this decision, ENHYPEN will continue as a six-member group.

Belift Lab stated, "We had in-depth discussions about each member's future and the team's direction, and it became clear that Heeseung has a distinct musical vision." They added, "Heeseung will pursue his solo career under Belift Lab, and ENHYPEN will continue their activities as a six-member group." Heeseung also left a handwritten letter, explaining, "I have many things I want to show through my personal work, and after long discussions with the company, I made this new decision."

While it's not uncommon for artists to balance group and solo activities, some fans find it hard to understand Heeseung's decision to leave. ENHYPEN has been on a growth trajectory, winning awards at year-end ceremonies. The sudden departure without sufficient explanation has left fans puzzled, with some criticizing the lack of consideration for the fans who have supported the group.

Some fans have announced plans for a truck protest on X (formerly Twitter), demanding Heeseung's return. They stated, "The sudden news of a member leaving has caused confusion and hurt among many fans. Heeseung has been a key part of ENHYPEN as the main vocalist, contributing significantly to the group's performances. It's hard for fans to accept his sudden departure."

They added, "The announcement comes amid various scheduled events, including a world tour in May, an upcoming concert in Australia, and a video call fan signing event, causing further confusion."

Changes in the group's music and performance structure are anticipated. With a significant international fanbase, ENHYPEN has conducted large-scale world tours, attracting around 676,000 attendees last year. The change in lineup necessitates a reorganization of existing performances, increasing the responsibilities and pressure on the remaining members.

HYBE stated, "Since introducing the original story in 2021, we've expanded fan experiences through webtoons, web novels, storybooks, audiobooks, and offline collaborations with various brands. The 'DARK MOON: The Altar of the Moon' animation is a significant step in content format expansion." However, artist-centered story IPs are vulnerable to changes like lineup shifts. The close connection between real-life members and the narrative means team changes can impact the operation of story-based content.
