KATSEYE Shines on 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' with Their Multifaceted Charm
On November 5th (KST), KATSEYE appeared on NBC's 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.' Jimmy Fallon introduced them as "the group selected as TikTok's 'Artist of the Year' and nominated for two Grammy categories."
The audience erupted in applause as the six members, each dressed in different styles of long dresses, gracefully took the stage. Leader Sophia expressed, "We are a global girl group based on K-pop training methodologies. It's an honor to be on the 'Jimmy Fallon Show.'"
Fallon, taking the microphone, admired a photo of KATSEYE's performance at the Grammy Awards on November 2nd, saying they looked like "superheroes." The group, nominated for 'Best New Artist,' received a standing ovation for their intense dance break performance of 'Gnarly.'
KATSEYE members recalled, "We were so nervous with top artists like Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, and Bad Bunny watching us." Youngest member Yoonchae shared, "I've been a fan of BLACKPINK since I was nine. When I met Rosé, I was so nervous I could barely speak, but she kindly asked if I could speak Korean."
Fallon noted, "The Grammys are a big stage, but the Super Bowl might be even bigger," highlighting the significance of KATSEYE's upcoming ad. Last year's Super Bowl was watched by approximately 127.7 million viewers across TV and streaming platforms in the U.S. The members responded with a bright smile, saying, "We've even appeared on the 'Jimmy Fallon Show,'" creating a warm atmosphere.
The studio's excitement peaked as KATSEYE performed the choreography from the ad. Despite wearing high heels and dresses, the six members delivered a flawless synchronized dance to a live band session. Fans filling the studio audience stood up and applauded, capturing attention.
The members teased, "We have a lot planned for this year," exciting fans. They hinted at new music with keywords like 'colorful,' 'energetic,' 'hot,' 'fun,' and 'fierce,' while making a gesture of drinking tea, sparking curiosity.
KATSEYE was formed through the audition project 'The Debut: Dream Academy' and is considered a successful example of HYBE Chairman Bang Si-hyuk's 'Multi-home, multi-genre' strategy. They are nominated for four categories at the iHeartRadio Music Awards in March and will perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.
