G(I-DLE)'s Yuqi Becomes First Female Foreign Idol to Achieve Full Membership in KOMCA
According to KOMCA on the 29th, Yuqi, a member of (G)I-DLE alongside Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, and Shuhua, has been elevated to full membership. She is the second member from the group to achieve this status after Soyeon, and notably, the first female foreign idol to do so.
Each January, KOMCA selects members for promotion based on criteria such as membership duration and copyright royalty distribution. This marks only the second time a female foreign national has been promoted to full membership, and Yuqi is the first idol and the first Chinese national, regardless of gender, to achieve this milestone.
Her self-composed song 'Radio (Dum-Dum),' released in March last year, has gained immense popularity in the Chinese-speaking regions, maintaining a strong presence on local music charts. It received platinum certification on QQ Music and continues to rank high even 10 months post-release, earning the status of a 'steady seller.' Additionally, Yuqi showcased her producing skills in the pre-release track 'Fly Freely (Feat. Yuqi (YUQI))' from her label's junior group NOWZ's mini-album 'IGNITION.'
With Yuqi joining Soyeon as a full member of KOMCA, (G)I-DLE has further cemented their position as a self-producing artist group. The group released their new song 'Mono (Feat. skaiwater)' on the 27th and will appear on KBS2's 'Music Bank' and 'The Seasons-10cm's Touch' on the 30th.
