A significant data breach has occurred at Weverse, the largest fan platform in South Korea with 50 million subscribers.

According to the music industry on the 2nd, Weverse, operated by HYBE's subsidiary Weverse Company, has experienced a personal information leak. The platform hosts fan interactions for artists under HYBE, including BTS, as well as groups from SM Entertainment like RIIZE and aespa, and YG Entertainment's TREASURE.

The controversy arose when a conversation, allegedly between a Weverse employee and an acquaintance, was leaked on online communities. The leaked images revealed discussions about fan sign event winners and album purchase quantities.

The issue was identified as misconduct by an individual employee rather than a systemic problem. Weverse has taken a firm stance on the matter. Weverse Company stated, "This incident is due to the misconduct of an employee who violated company regulations. Upon receiving the report, we immediately conducted an investigation and confirmed the damage caused to both customers and the company. The employee has been removed from their position and referred to the disciplinary committee, and we are considering legal action."

Additionally, they stated, "We apologize to the affected customers and will provide detailed information on the actions taken against the misconduct. To prevent recurrence, we plan to strengthen employee training and internal control systems."
