ILLIT's Debut Single 'NOT CUTE ANYMORE' Climbs Japanese Charts, Gains Global Attention
According to the latest chart released by Oricon on the 26th (dated November 25), ILLIT's debut single 'NOT CUTE ANYMORE' entered the 'Daily Single Ranking' at number 3 upon its release. This is a significant achievement for the rookie group, consisting of members Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha, as they compete with popular Japanese artists like Nogizaka46 and MAZZEL.
The title track of the same name also made waves on major Japanese music charts. It topped the AWA real-time surge chart immediately after its release and ranked high on Line Music and iTunes Japan. On YouTube's trending music chart, it placed 3rd in Korea, 2nd in Australia, 10th in the UK, and 12th in the US, entering the rankings in a total of 23 countries and regions.
The music video for 'NOT CUTE ANYMORE' quickly amassed views, surpassing 10 million within approximately 29 hours of its release. It reached the top of YouTube's Worldwide Trending Music Videos chart as of 2 PM on the 26th, drawing significant attention.
The lyrics have also sparked interest, with lines like 'I prefer a loose jellyfish over a puppy' highlighting the group's unique style. On their YouTube channel 'Hyo's Level Up,' ILLIT shared, "We incorporated a lot of the members' preferences. Many see us as cute, but we wanted to express that there are other sides to us through the lyrics."
ILLIT plans to continue their variety show appearances. On the 27th, Minju will appear as an MC on the YouTube channel KBS Kpop's 'Minju's Pink Cabinet,' and on the 30th, they are set to appear on 'Idol 1N2D.'
