K-Pop Group KickFlip Aims for 'Stage Master' Title with New Mini Album 'My First Flip'

K-Pop group KickFlip is setting its sights on earning the moniker 'Stage Master'. On the 22nd, KickFlip held a media showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their third mini-album, 'My First Flip'.

The title track, 'My First Love Song', is an uptempo dance track based on pop-punk, blending powerful synth sounds with guitar riffs. It captures the thrilling moment of confessing a first love. The youngest member, Donghyeon, showcased his musical talent by participating in the songwriting and composition.

Donghyeon, who also contributed to the title track of their second album, said, "Working with great composers and producers allowed us to complete a good song, and I learned a lot in the process. After creating the song, I listened to it from start to finish with my eyes closed and couldn't wait to share it with my brothers. I was so happy that the members liked the title track." Keiju expressed his satisfaction, saying, "When I first heard the title track, it felt like I became the protagonist of a youth comic."

Donghyeon added, "I wanted to try a different concept from our first and second albums, so we decided to do a love song. Thinking of our fans, WeFlip, made the lyrics come easily and quickly." He continued, "As a student, I was asked, 'What kind of lyrics can you write as a student?' I thought a scene of confessing under the sunset sky after school would be exciting and fresh, so I included such scenes in the lyrics."

In their new album, KickFlip unfolds a slightly awkward first love story. The album includes a total of seven tracks, including the title track, 'Band-Aid', 'Singularity', 'Again, Here', 'Gas On It', '404: Not Found', and 'It's a Secret I Had a Nightmare'. The members participated in the production of all tracks.

Minje, who participated in composing the pre-released track 'Band-Aid', said, "It was my first time composing, and I experienced a lot. I was able to take a step closer to the world of music. My satisfaction is 10 out of 10." Kyehoon, who participated in writing and composing 'Singularity', added, "I will humbly give it a 9 out of 10."

On this day, Kyehoon shared advice he received from producer J.Y. Park ahead of their comeback. Kyehoon said, "PD-nim told us that while this album is important, it's more important to identify KickFlip's strengths and develop them further."

Kyehoon highlighted KickFlip's strength as their live performance skills. He confidently stated, "Our big strength is being able to showcase bright and energetic live performances." Minje added, "Our strength lies in our novelty and freedom, not being tied to existing things. We can challenge new concepts and show new appearances and individuality each time."

For this promotion, member Amaru will not participate due to health reasons. JYP Entertainment announced on the fan community on the 17th, five days before the comeback, "Amaru has been advised by medical professionals to take sufficient rest and treatment due to psychological anxiety symptoms." Donghyeon expressed, "It's unfortunate that Amaru won't be joining us for the third album activities. We are waiting for him to return healthy. The six of us will work hard to fill his absence."

Their goal is to achieve first place on music shows. Donghyeon promised, "I absolutely want to be number one. Since it's a love song, if we achieve first place, I will perform with a bouquet during the encore."

KickFlip's third mini-album 'My First Flip' will be released at 6 PM today.
