Yves, a rising K-pop artist, is setting her sights on the U.S. Billboard charts with the support of renowned British singer-songwriter PinkPantheress.

On the 6th, Yves sat down with TenAsia at a café in Yongsan to discuss her third EP, 'Soft Error'.

Reflecting on her comeback after seven months, Yves expressed gratitude to her fans, saying, "I'm thankful to the fans who waited for me. I hope the public will take an interest in my new genre challenge."

When asked about her transformation from long hair to a short bob, Yves explained, "Usually, transformation means dyeing your hair. This time, I wanted to keep it simple and just cut it short."

The EP 'Soft Error' signifies a 'temporary error', and Yves shared, "I wanted to directly express my inner state. Starting solo brought many challenges and worries. I wanted to convey those feelings through my music without hiding them."

Regarding her collaboration with PinkPantheress on one of the double title tracks, 'Soap', Yves revealed, "It was a project brought together by fans." She added, "I've listened to her music a lot since my debut in the house genre. I wanted to work with her, and thanks to my overseas fans who attended PinkPantheress's fan meeting and mentioned me, we connected through Instagram."

Yves hopes the collaboration will satisfy PinkPantheress's fans and lead to more exciting partnerships with other artists.

Yves admitted to feeling uncertain during her solo career, saying, "I often felt lost and heard comments about my music being non-mainstream." However, she now embraces the uncertainty and enjoys the journey.

Choosing electronic music, a genre not widely accepted as mainstream, Yves candidly shared, "People might think I'm stubborn. Despite comments suggesting I return to a group or that my music isn't mainstream, I want to show more of my music. I hope one day people will recognize that I'm doing what I love."

Yves aims to introduce fans and the public to new music experiences through her work.

When asked about receiving more attention from international media like NME, DAZED, and Billboard than in Korea, Yves responded, "Since my time with LOONA, I've shown what I want without fear of prejudice. I think that's why overseas fans support me, and I'm grateful for the strong fandom and international popularity."

Discussing her goals for this release, Yves shared, "My previous goal was not to focus on results, but when a track went viral overseas and ranked on TikTok, I couldn't help but want more. I hope this time, it goes viral in Korea too, so more people can easily access it."

Yves's third EP 'Soft Error' includes six tracks, featuring the pre-released title track 'White Cat' and the double title track 'Soap (feat. PinkPantheress)'. 'Soap' explores themes of dulled emotions and indelible impressions, with Yves's whispering vocals over a heavy bass and drum line. 'White Cat' is known as the most mainstream song on the album, offering a cute yet dreamy vibe.

Yves's third EP 'Soft Error' was released on various music platforms at noon on the 7th.
