Jannabi Tops TENASIA ARTIST TOP TEN for May in K-Pop Genre Brand Category
In May, the TENASIA voting service conducted a global poll divided into K-POP BOY BRAND, K-POP GIRL BRAND, and HOT GENRE BRAND categories.
The results revealed that the band Jannabi secured the top spot in the K-Pop Genre Brand category. Jannabi, with Choi Jung-hoon as the vocalist and Kim Do-hyung as the guitarist, debuted in April 2014. Recently, they donated the entire proceeds of 48.6 million won from their tour merchandise sales to support children in need of family care. Choi Jung-hoon confirmed his relationship with actress Han Ji-min, who is 10 years his senior, in July last year. They reportedly met through the KBS 2TV show 'The Seasons - Choi Jung-hoon's Night Park' aired in August last year.
Singer Lee Mujin claimed the second spot. Lee Mujin debuted in May 2018 and gained public attention by finishing third in JTBC's 'Sing Again – The Unknown Singer' as Singer No. 63 in 2020. He is currently hosting the music live talk show 'Limousine Service.' On the 27th, he released his new song 'Babsae,' showcasing a deeper emotional spectrum.
WOODZ took third place. He began gaining attention after appearing on KBS 2TV's 'Immortal Songs 2' during his military service last year. His performance of 'Drowning' on the show saw a resurgence on the Melon chart, reaching third place on the Melon TOP100 chart as of the 30th. The performance video has surpassed 14.3 million views on YouTube.
Following them were Jo Jaejoong, Hwang Garam, OVAN, Eclipse, Roy Kim, Sung Si-kyung, and AKMU.
The rankings for Jannabi, Lee Mujin, WOODZ, Jo Jaejoong, Hwang Garam, OVAN, Eclipse, Roy Kim, Sung Si-kyung, and AKMU were determined by a media index using 30% from online music site Melon, 10% from Google Trends, and 60% from global fan votes through the TENASIA voting service.
The criteria for nominees in the K-POP BOY BRAND and K-POP GIRL BRAND categories include male and female idol groups and solo artists within the top 30 on the Melon chart for the month. The HOT GENRE BRAND category includes domestic groups and solo artists with a history of entering the monthly Melon chart and Idol Champ chart, also within the top 30.
