K-Pop Group MEOVV Unveils Diverse Charms with Debut EP 'MY EYES OPEN VVIDE'

"We aim to be as colorful and charming as a vibrant cat," says MEOVV.

K-pop group MEOVV is transforming from a sleek black cat to one with a spectrum of vibrant charms. On October 12, MEOVV held a showcase at SBS Prism Tower in Seoul to celebrate the release of their first EP, 'MY EYES OPEN VVIDE'.

The title track 'DROP TOP' is a pop song infused with rock elements, starting with a calm mood and building into an upbeat rhythm. It lyrically explores the journey of moving forward with one's unique perspective. Member Gaon contributed to the lyrics, enhancing the song's depth. The new album features six tracks, including the title track and a pre-released single.

Gaon showcased her musical prowess by participating in the songwriting for the title track. Reflecting on 'DROP TOP', she shared, "It was the first song we recorded as trainees. It's a song that has been with us the longest. The essence of this track is freedom, capturing the moment as it is. I wrote the lyrics thinking of precious moments with my fellow members."

Since their debut, MEOVV has consistently delivered intense performances, but they return with a refreshing new track. Narin commented, "When we debuted, we had a strong image like a chic black cat. With this EP, we aimed to showcase a more diverse range of charms."

MEOVV is the first girl group under The Black Label, led by Teddy. Anna shared advice from Teddy, "He told us to do as much as we want for good results during recordings and music video shoots. We are grateful for the opportunities he provided."

Teddy has been offering opportunities to MEOVV since their trainee days. Gaon explained about the track 'LIT RIGHT NOW', "I participated in writing this song as a trainee, along with Narin and Teddy PD. It was a spontaneous process, and despite being shy, the comfortable atmosphere helped me contribute effectively."

MEOVV achieved their first music show win with the pre-released single 'HANDS UP', a Brazilian funk track with a fast-paced rhythm and unique synth sounds. Narin expressed gratitude, "We are thrilled and thankful for the love 'HANDS UP' received. The song carries a message of boldly forging our own path, making the win even more meaningful."

When asked if the success of the pre-release added pressure for the title track, Gaon responded, "Rather than feeling pressured, we are excited. The love for 'HANDS UP' has energized us to present 'DROP TOP' with confidence."

MEOVV is stepping away from their mysterious image to connect more with the public. They have appeared on various web shows like 'Salon Drip', 'Idol Human Theater', and 'Workman'. Ella mentioned, "We plan to showcase individual charms through diverse content, not just music shows."

This album marks MEOVV's first physical release. Suin emphasized, "Through our first EP, we aim to delve deeper into the world of music. This album truly represents MEOVV's universe. Please focus on our courageous journey as we soar high."

MEOVV is targeting the title of 'versatile cat'. Narin confidently stated, "We want to be known as the 'versatile cat', showcasing our ability to adapt to various concepts with our music and performances."

The new album includes the title track 'DROP TOP', pre-released single 'HANDS UP', and other tracks like 'MEOW', 'Body', 'Toxic', and 'LIT RIGHT NOW'.

MEOVV's debut EP 'MY EYES OPEN VVIDE' is set to release at 6 PM today.
