K-pop group (G)I-DLE, consisting of members Miyeon, Minnie, Soyeon, Yuqi, and Shuhua, is celebrating their 7th anniversary with a significant change: a new group name, 'i-dle'.

Cube Entertainment, the group's agency, announced on November 2nd that the group will officially change its name from (G)I-DLE to i-dle.

As they mark their 7th anniversary since debuting on May 2, 2018, the group is leaving behind their original name to embark on a new journey as i-dle.

The group has dropped the 'G' and 'female' elements from their name, redefining their identity as one that transcends gender or any specific label. By removing the parentheses, they aim to showcase limitless music and concepts.

A new logo and symbol have also been unveiled. According to Cube Entertainment, the lowercase 'i d l e' logo features a circular design that expands, symbolizing the group's infinite potential and organic connection. The symbol, formed by five 'i's coming together as a star, represents the unique individuality of each member uniting as one cohesive group.

After renewing their contracts with Cube Entertainment last December, i-dle is signaling a bold rebranding, aiming for greater heights with strengthened teamwork and expanded musicality.

With a more straightforward name, i-dle is set to make a fresh start, leaving behind the cumbersome parentheses.

The group has been loved for hits like 'LATATA', 'Oh my god', 'DUMDi DUMDi', 'HWAA', 'TOMBOY', 'Nxde', and 'Queencard'.

Last year, their second full album 'Two' and its title track 'Super Lady' topped music charts domestically and internationally, while the track 'I Hate Being Sick' gained renewed popularity. Their mini 7th album 'I SWAY' with the title track 'Klaxon' dominated the summer music scene.
