NewJeans Challenges Court's Injunction Decision in Brief Hearing

On the afternoon of the 9th, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-hoon) held a hearing for the objection filed by the five members of NewJeans. The group had previously objected to the court's acceptance of ADOR's injunction request to 'preserve agency status and prohibit advertising contract agreements.'
The hearing was completed in about 15 minutes, and the court is expected to make a decision on the objection soon. Unlike the previous open hearing, this session was held privately.
Previously, the Seoul Central District Court's Civil Division 50 (Presiding Judge Kim Sang-hoon) had fully accepted ADOR's request for an injunction against NewJeans members on September 21st, which sought to 'preserve agency status and prohibit advertising contract agreements.' NewJeans had claimed that their contract with ADOR was terminated last November and announced plans for independent activities, but the court's decision has put a halt to these plans.
The five members of NewJeans promptly filed an objection to the court's injunction decision. In interviews with foreign media, they have asserted, "Our actions are justified." In an interview with TIME magazine on the 22nd of last month, they expressed disappointment, stating, "It seems Korea wants to make us revolutionaries." On the 26th, BBC News Korea's official YouTube channel featured them denying the 'Min Hee-jin conspiracy theory.'
On the 23rd of last month, NewJeans announced a "temporary suspension of activities" during their performance at Hong Kong's 'ComplexCon' and have since remained out of the public eye. Subsequently, they dismantled their SNS channel, previously named NJZ, and rebranded it with the initials MHDHH, derived from the members' names. The PR channel, claiming to represent the parents of the five members, also changed its name to MHDHH.
