SEVENTEEN's Woozi Delivers Emotional Acceptance Speech at 2024 MAMA Awards
SEVENTEEN's Woozi captured hearts with his tearful acceptance speech at the 2024 MAMA Awards held at Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan, on the evening of the 23rd.
The group took home the Album of the Year award, marking a significant achievement. During his speech, Woozi was visibly emotional, exclaiming, "Oh, please, really," as he looked skyward. He continued, "I don't know why my heart feels so heavy every time our team receives an award. I don't know why it feels so sorrowful." He added, "SEVENTEEN has won a grand prize at MAMA for two consecutive years. This year, we received two. It was something that could never happen to us. They say imagination is free, but it was a place we couldn't even imagine."
Woozi shared, "I'm not usually someone who talks a lot, but yesterday was my birthday. I don't really like receiving birthday congratulations because it feels burdensome. But receiving such a great award as a birthday gift feels amazing." He continued, "For over 10 years, I can proudly say that I've never neglected studying music for even a moment. I will continue to repay with my best efforts. It's a cliché, but I believe the best way a singer can repay is with a good album. We will remain steadfast as 13 members. I love you." On this day, SEVENTEEN swept the awards, winning both Artist of the Year and Album of the Year. Leader S.Coups, like Woozi, couldn't hold back his tears, adding to the emotional atmosphere.
The concept of this year's awards was 'BIG BLUR: What is Real?', focusing on the theme of the boundaries between different things becoming blurred and fused to create a 'NEW THING'. On the 22nd, during Chapter 1, BTS's Jin won the 'VISA FANS' CHOICE OF THE YEAR'.
