The Boyz Sign Exclusive Contract with Onehundred, Leaving IST Entertainment
The Boyz are set to join forces with singer MC Mong's agency, Onehundred.
According to TenAsia's report on the 15th, The Boyz have parted ways with their former agency, IST Entertainment, and signed an exclusive contract with Onehundred. The decision was reportedly made based on the strong camaraderie among the members, leading to a unanimous move. The Boyz will begin their activities under Onehundred from mid-December. Previously, there were industry rumors suggesting The Boyz might join Big Planet Made Entertainment, but it turns out they were in discussions with Onehundred.
Onehundred is an entertainment agency founded by singer MC Mong and Cha Gawon, chairman of Piack Group. It houses sub-labels like Big Planet Made, which includes artists like Lee Seung-gi and Taemin, and INB100, home to EXO's Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin.
Whether The Boyz will retain their group name remains uncertain. The trademark for 'The Boyz' is owned by IST Entertainment. Discussions regarding the trademark have just begun, and both parties are negotiating the transfer of the group name. If negotiations fall through, the group may have to adopt a new name.
The Boyz made a comeback last month on the 28th with their 9th mini-album 'Doha'. This release follows their second full-length album 'PHANTASY' Pt.3 'Love Letter' from March, marking their return after approximately seven months. The Boyz concluded their official album promotions with a performance on SBS's 'Inkigayo' on the 10th. According to Hanteo Chart, 'Doha' sold approximately 560,000 copies in its first week, making it their third album to achieve half a million sales in the first week, following their 6th mini-album 'THRILL-ING' and their 2nd full-length album Pt.2 'Sixth Sense'.
Debuting in 2017, The Boyz gained prominence by winning Mnet's 'Road to Kingdom' in 2020 with their high-quality performances. They further expanded their fanbase by appearing on 'Kingdom'. The group continues to actively release hit songs like 'THRILL RIDE' and 'The Stealer'.
